I'm getting back into bowhunting after 7 years and I still have a red dot scope on my bow. Does anyone still use them or are the still popular? The only problem I remember having was during low light conditions.
I'm newer than 7 years ago to bow hunting but from what I know about firearms, I don't think a red dot site on a compound bow would work very well unless you could adjust the range somehow. Too much of an arch in the trajectory of an arrow. I've looked at a lot of sights in the last few years and can't say I've ever seen a red dot for a bow.
My Dad used to have one but I haven't seen anyone use one in years, he switched to a single pin slider for the yardage adjust-ability, they are super popular now.
Welcome to the site. I haven't seen a red dot sight but on the good side, there are a lot of great sights out there and you can have a good time checking them out as you get back into the sport.
not sure if they are even legal on a compound in PA? they are legal on a crossgun in PA but last I knew years ago it was illegal to have electronic sights on a bow in our state. I should check because if it is still illegal to have electronics on a bow but legal to have them on a crossgun it will prove yet again another advantage for crossgun hunters.
