For any of you that are "on the fence" about the Reconyx trail cameras - get one. Or 3. You will love them. Crazy fast trigger speed and battery life. They last forever. Goes great on my Stic-n-Pic too. Check out this link to see my full review of the Reconyx HC600 camera
I will take 3 quality cameras for the $ of 1 Reconyx :D Seriously that's a "review" sounds more like a commercial. Maybe post a few pictures
They need to come up with a mid priced cam without the big $$ and gps hidden inside. I would love to have one but i am cheap i guess.
Gove the guy a break. He did have one pic that looked like it cpuld have came off any trail cam. I mean what more do you want man??
Yep, I would rather blanket a property with more cost effective cameras than have 1 Reconyx. I don't doubt they are a quality product. I will say I am not that impressed with their picture quality compared to other cameras. Price point is 1.5 to 4x higher than any of their competitors. IMO they have priced themselves right out of the market. I would so squeal like a pig if a single Reconyx came up missing... It's happened on both private and public land.
The "full" review is 1/3 longer than this write up. I even said things i wasnt crazy about. I didn't say they were cheap. Most things worth their salt are not. This wasn't posted to debate. It was posted to inform about a quality camera. In an industry full of sub par products. You can (or could) purchase this camera right here at bh.com. This was a review of my thoughts. If you don't want the cliff notes version, that is available at numerous places online, I suggested my own. Sue me. To call this post a commercial because it links to my personal blog with zero advertising is a joke. I've been on this site for 3 years. That would have been sniffed out long ago. (sorry for the man PMS!)
Mid priced would certainly be desirable. I purchase mine used, because I think paying $500 in most cases is kinda crazy for a trail cam. Incredible dependability however.
The picture quality isn't the best. Their are trade offs, like everything. There actually are a couple more competitors in the same price point. They make quality cams as well. To date, I've yet to hear anyone upset about their use or purchase of this brand camera. I have heard gripes from users of other makers. I'd squeal too! Holy smokes that would stink.
IMO, your either going to pay upfront or on the back end. 3 175.00 ir flash cams that might last 3 years or 1 HC600. I own and/or have used just about every cam on the market and I can tell you my Reconyx cams always get set up in the best areas. They are just so reliable, never spook deer, and with the blazing trigger speed they don't miss a thing. Black flash is the newest and greastest in the world of trail cams. Reconyx lead that revolution and now other companies are following suit. I'm guessing your going to pay 350.00 - 400.00 for these new black flash cams that are going to be coming out in 2012. I have found that when you purchase a Reconyx you are purchasing an unwritten service plan. They have the best customer service in the industry, it doesn't matter how long you have owned your Reconyx, they take care of their customers, quickly. A few years back I purchased 2 of the latest and greatest no flash cams, 2 yrs later they died. I spent 65.00 per cam + shipping to get those 2 cams fixed. 2 years later, I spent another 65.00 to get them rebuilt again. Thats 130.00 per cam, hind sight is 20/20, and I learned from my mistake. IMO, If you can afford the up front investment, the customer service Reconyx offers is well worth the extra 100-150 you will fork over for there product. That said, I believe that trail camera satisfaction is in the eye of the beholder, if you are happy with the trail cams you use, keep using them.
Reconyx cameras are picture taking machines, and over the years they are 1 of the most cost effective cameras made. I havent had to send in any of mine for repair yet. Both of my 2011 bushnells have had runaway issues, this means extra money spent on batteries and returns plus not having them in the field taking pics. thats 400 dollars spent on so called quality and cost effective in some peoples eyes. I made the change to reconyx because of these types of things. After 2 cudde no flash cams that failed that were 450 dollars a piece (more money spent on so called quality) i said i would never pay that amount again. But after alot of research about the Reconyx camera and the company i decided to take the plunge and im glad i did. Granted they arent for everyone, and you may not need them depending on what type of appliciation you intend to use them for and how "your deer" react to getting their picture taken. In my case they are a perfect fit.
