I've been test driving some 'new' (current year and some new old stock) bows. I'm not opposed to used, just hard to consistently find to treat. I'm liking smooth draw cycles with firm back walls in the Elites and Bowtechs with a longer brace height. Axle to axle length is somewhat a non issue as I have been shooting Oneidas. I've also shot a couple Matthews, Hoyt and PSE. Ideal price point is under $700 bare bow. What else should I try? Extra credit if you have a 'business case' that will work with the wife.
I picked up a 2014 60# Hoyt Spyder 30 the other day bare bow for $590, out the door with HHA, QAD, Hoyt quiver, peep & d-loop install $819
i was at my local shop lastnight looking around. One bow i am interested in is the bowtech carbon icon. Its super lightweight at 3.2lbs. It also has the power disc technology on it. I have been shooting bowtech for yrs now and i love there bows. It should be priced right around $700 with the r.a.k package. If you want bare bow it might be around $600-$650. good luck choosing a bow there are alot of quality bows out there.
I liked the feel of the Icon and the Knight. I wonder how much difference the disc really makes and would've liked to compare 2 comparable bow stops head to head. Allegedly only about 8fps difference but supposed to feel very different on the draw cycle.
if you like Elite try Obsession. But really any one of the bow you named are good quality and will do you right.
I have a Bowtech Carbon Icon and I couldn't be happier. For my body, The weight and back wall fit are excellent. I believe I have it at #60 and 29in draw. It came with the RAK package. I recommend it for sure. Best of luck
The power disc in the carbon icon give you 2 different let offs and a different draw cycle. The icon has 2 discs performance and comfort. Definitely a nice bow
I've been shooting Prime bows since early in 2013. Currently, my two virtually identical bows are 2015 Rivals that are smooth, accurate, consistent and easy to tune. The Flexis adjustable roller guide is awesome for fine tuning your fletched and bare shafts. Well worth the effort to get one in your hands......just be prepared with your wallet.
I'm a frugal guy...hell I've got 5 kids, 3 in college. I just don't have the DI. Your Elite Hunter was more than I was willing to part with...I know you just must be teasing with the prodigy. :D
