Since I'm about to pull the trigger on a new bow I'd like some ideas for a good "hunting" arrow. I'm wanting something a little heavier, for hunting purposes. I've been perfectly content with my GT Hunter 55/75's that I really haven't paid much attention to what else is out there. Any suggestions?

Oh...I've been griping for months now about shops near me NOT having a Sentinel in stock.:bash: Finally found one the other day that did and went and shot it. Nice bow but I changed my mind. I want a Captain now. :d Sentinel is just a little too long for my liking.

Easton Full Metal Jacket, as tuff a hunting arrow as you will find. And they are on the heavy side.

I use the GT Hunter XT .003 straight , a lot of hunters use them and to good effect ... That said though , i've noticed a lot are making the change to FMJ's .

I like the GT XT Hunters & Pro hunters depending on how much one wants to shell out. They’ve been very sturdy for me. If you want something heavier, you can always add weight to the GT’s with their add on system. That’s what I did for this latest batch. You can add weight to the front or the front & back.

Thanks guys. I'm actually shooting Gold Tip XT Hunters now, not expedition hunter as my previous post may have suggested. Don't get me wrong...they've been good to me but I guess I was just looking to try something new. I don't know...I feel the need to change my entire setup with this new bow.

I have had no complaints with the Easton Axis Nano-Fused...tough arrows.

Especially good with the Muzzy 100 gr. brass inserts but I prefer the A/C/C with a standard insert over the HIT inserts. In either case, if you go to the brass inserts to gain weight be aware that you may have to step up to a stiffer arrow. I had to go from a .340 to a .300 in the Axis when I added the extra 100 grains up front.

I shoot Maximas now and I like them better than the GT's I used to shoot, I just feel like the CX's are a better arrow, but those GT's are great arrows.

Another vote for the Easton Axis. I like the full metal jackets, but they're a little more pricey and I've found them to dent occasionally, something that doesn't happen with an arrow that has a carbon wall or aluminum wrapped in carbon.

Ok. Lots of choices and opinions. :d

I've heard great things about all the arrows listed above. However, I think I'm leaning more towards the Easton lineup. Which one for certain, I'm unsure.

    Jeff...thanks for the offer man! You're right...they're a little pricey. Almost $11 a shaft!

I was using them on my X-Force 65# at 27" and had no issues , in fact they were bang on the button . I just prefer to stick with my GT's .

You hit the Nail on the head Jeff , my normal arrows were 1 1/2" longer .... i had them cut shorter to get correct spine and then put 100grn B/Head on and they worked great . So i'm hoping they should work fine for Donnie .

Like KodiakArcher, I prefer shafts that allow a standard insert over the HIT insert. This year I'm shooting the new A/C/C Pro Hunters. If the FMJ's had regular HT inserts I'd probably be shooting those. My second choice was the GoldTip Pro Hunters, but I've always been more of an Easton guy so I went with the A/C/C's.
