I got my new RC60 HO Reconyx the other day via UPS. They say to only run Lithium or NiMH battery's In this camera so that's what I put In It. They also said do not use Alkaline battery's of any kind. I set It out yesterday and will be checking It Thursday to see what Is around. Maybe even get a pic of my buck I was chasing. Haven't had a pic of him since the the 19th of December. Anyway my question Is- Anyone use rechargables In their camera's? I put rechargables In my other RC60 and In my No Flash Cuddeback 10 days ago and checked them yesterday. Temps around here have been mainly below zero the past 2 weeks. Temps as cold as -30 below and as warm as about 12 degree's above zero. I had 450 pictures In my Reconyx and still had 80% battery left. That was pretty good I thought considering the cold temps. My cuddeback was at 50% battery with 50 pics and 50 one minute video's taking. That was even more Impressive being the battery's were only charged to 75% when I put them In. The pics to me weren't of any better quality using the rechargables but then again It was -30 below some of them days and nights.
I've been using them in my Trophy Cam, but not my Leaf River. I love the idea of using the rechargeables when I can. They will work fine in some cameras, but not in others. It's a voltage difference. for instance, a regular AA battery is 1,5V but a AA rechargeable is only 1,2V. Many trail camera manuals do not recommend the rechargeables for that reason. I'm still going to use them all I can though. Just one more way to reduce my waste.
On my Cuddeback...no. I get over 2 months on a set of batteries easily. My new Moultrie, its new, so i haven't tried it. My old Moultrie i did, the old 6v lantern style batteries. They sucked, i got maybe 2 weeks per charge. Now the Stealth Cam, known as POS, is a different story. I would get 1 night out of regular batteries. So i bought the external battery pack. Now i can get around a month, then charge it. Works for me. Not sure if any of this info helps. I will say this though. D batteries are by far the best i have used in trail cams.
Steve, I have used rechargeables for a while now and have tried a bunch. the longest lasting for me are sanyo eneloops. Great battery IMHO.
I checked my trial cams today and the battery's are still kicking ass yet!! I had 90 video's and pictures on my cuddeback and still the battery level Is at 50%. Never would've been the case with regular D battery's. My older RC60 Reconyx had another 600 pictures on It, battery level went down from 80% to 78%. Not too bad In sub zero temps. My new HO RC60 Reconyx had 1075 pictures, battery level was 72%. So far I'm sold on these rechargables. Time to view my new pictures now and see how I like my new camera. :D
For my cudde's I'm usind D battery's made by enercell. My Reconyx takes C battery's and I'm also using enercell with them.
Nothing worth a **** to post!! I'm pissed, not one decent buck In 4 camera's scattered out on this food plot.
