Anyone use rechargeable batteries in Trail Cameras? How do you like them? Which brand do you use?

I use rechargeables almost exclusively. They save a ton of money when you're running nearly 20 cams. I use mainly Tenergy's. I get them off Ebay at a very decent price.

You would do well to get a "smart" charger. They discharge the old battery before recharging it. Also, get a charger that will charge different sized batteries because I guarantee, once you use rechargeables you'll probably never go back to conventional batteries. Search this seller. It is where I've bought nearly every rechargeable I own. Great service and super fast shipping. http://stores.ebay.com/allbatterycenter/

I used to run recharables in all my cams. My kids have since taken over the majority of the recharable batteries in our house hold. :( Eneloop(s) or Tenergy(s) work very well for me. I was initially concerned about discharge in colder temps but the high end rechargeables seem to hold up better then a lot of disposable batteries.

Like Jim said a good charger is a must!

If you take my cam please leave my batteries and the SD card. :p

Do you think the Energizer rechargeable batteries would be good or should I look for some Eneloops or tenergys

Waste of money IMO... They aren't worth a sh*t! Spend a bit extra and get good ones! You won't regret it!

Not to hi-jack the thread, but I didn't see a reason to make a new thread for this. What size do you guys run? I see them from 500 mAh all the way to 2600 mAh.

    Great thread -

I'm testing out 3 options with the cams this year:
Sanyo Eneloop 3rd generation 8 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries ($24.45 on Amazon)
Sanyo Eneloop XX 2500mAh High Capacity, 8 Pack AA Ni-MH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries ($30.24 on Amazon)
Stealth Cam 12v Battery Box (~50 Ebay)

I also bought a La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger as well - working just fine.

So far i've seen great performance in my stealth cam G Series cameras. In fact 2 months in - I haven't replaced any of them.

IMO once you ever use rechargeable, you'll never go back. They just save so much money.

But does the higher voltage on the tenergy batteries harm the camera? There was some AAs that were 3.6v instead of 1.6 v
