My wife and I, along with a group of friends, made the trip to NYC right before Christmas this year. It was my first trip there as well as my wife's. I wanted to get as many architectural pictures as possible, and while I knew it would be challenging, dealing with the crowds really forces you to have a small window to setup and shoot. A lot of my shots aren't as great as I would like, but I'm still happy with what I had to work with. I took well over 200 pictures in all just with my camera, but I sorted it down to 83 keepers, and here's just a few of those. St. Patrick's Cathedral (this one was fun trying to get a shot without 50 different heads in the shot): Another angle inside the cathedral: My favorite part of the trip. We traveled down to ground zero, and toured the memorial center. It was a bit somber seeing just how large of an area was impacted by the attacks, but also very uplifting to see the almost completed construction of three of the new towers. Here's one my favorite shots of the trip looking up at Tower 1, also known as "Freedom Tower." A shot of Tower 1 and Tower 7 beside it: Looking up at the base of Tower 1: Tower 4: One of the memorial pools: A closeup of the inscribed names. One of our friends on this trip went to college with a girl who lost her father during the attacks, and eerily, we were standing right beside his name when we first arrived at the first pool. Another shot: The Survivor Tree that lived through the attacks and was replanted:
Central Park at sunset: Some night city shots: Trump tower: Took this one while walking with the camera held above my head. Happy with how it turned out, and you get an idea just what you're dealing with crowd wise when trying to get pictures: Thanks for looking!
Nicely done. I still need to get to NYC soon. My wife loves the city, as she has been several times. I'm afraid what my food bill would like though. Too many incredible restaurants for me to pass up.
The food is the one thing I miss most about living in NYC....I am gone and not coming back....now I get my fill with family visits and monthly business trips... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I wonder how much the top floors of the Freedom Tower will be renting for per month. Can't imagine anyone wanting to work up there. I've gotten a chance to see the buidling of the tower from afar when driving out to my gf's house in Long Island, amazing views from east of the city.
Thank God for rural PA, to believe that any one would live like that while not incarcerated or incapacitated is a mystery to me. Great pictures though.
I could definitely live in NYC. I'd have to be ballin' though. I would not want to be poor, or even middle class living in NYC.
Great pics Matt. I was to NYC about 15 years ago. Took in all the sights and hit a couple plays on Broadway. My wife has never been there and wants to go bad. She'll probably go with her cousin, as I have zero desire to go back.
I visited the City back in 2002. I had a friend in culinary school in Hyde Park (C.I.A.). It was crazy visiting ground zero and seeing the big hole. It was a fun place to visit and I'd go back, but I have too many other places I'd rather see. I wouldn't want to live there though. Great pictures Matt!
Thanks, everyone. I'm very hesitant posting pictures around here with the likes of Chenago Dave and Vito setting the bar pretty high for outdoor photos. As for the city, it was crowded. No two ways about it. I will never live in or near a major city like this, but I pretty much loved every minute of it. I was really glad I got to see what I did, even though I really only had less than 12hrs on the ground to do so.
You got that right. Food Food Food They even have pizza shops that are gourmet beyond belief. Carry you big wallet. LOL I just spent 2 weeks doing some of the best of Seattle.. Great food. We did everything from Seafood, to Italian, Sushi, Thai etc etc etc. Did I mention wine tasting tours. LOL
