this will be my first season ever bow hunting. i have a ton of activity coming through my property so its time to get set up and all i have left to get is the stand. looking for suggestions on style, height, etc. i plan on setting it next to a clearing thats surrounded by timber that has highways running through it from all directions. i threw a mineral block out there and have tons of action. shots will be 20 yards, 30 tops

some pics of deer and elk on my property...

Lone wolf. All the years that I've been hunting, if I had it all to do over again, I would buy lone wolf right off the bat. I love mine. You pay for it, but it's worth it.

I use XOP stands for my run and gun set. They're made by the guy that started lone wolf and have the same cast aluminum style that lone wolf has just a little cheaper. There has been a lot of argument on here about them since they are made in China and lone wolf is made in USA. From my experience, they perform about the same. Either way you go, you'll get a top of the line, lightweight, easy to set, mobile stand.

Been using my LW climber for 13 years now. Love it, and wouldn't use any other! Other than my bow, my LW is the best purchase I've ever made, hunting wise.

I would recommend a climbing stand. I prefer Summit climbers because they are lightweight, quiet, and reasonably priced. I am currently using the Summit Openshot SD. I think it runs about $250 new and it only weighs 15 lbs!

I use a summit Goliath and it's bulky and by the end of the season I wanna throw it but it's the only climber I have found that you can sit forever, comfort is worth the few extra lbs getting it there and the 300$ price range is great.

If you are going to keep it in one spot i would go with a ladder stand I prefer Rivers edge.

Depends on the trees you have, and how much money you want to spend...what's your budget? Do you have straight branchless trees for a climber?

I find it hilarious that he got almost every style of stand recommended. Except for tripod stand I guess. Maybe he should try that. :)

thanks for the replies. those lone wolf stands look bad *** i might lean that way but what i had in mind was a stand with a ladder that would stay permanently, maybe in the 300ish range. the tree its going on is a pine with tons of branches so i will have to do a lot of trimming either way

If you go ladder stand the new Summit Vine looks pretty slick...I like their stands they typically make good stuff.

I love the look of that Vine!
I can tell you that my Summit Viper is the most comfortable thing I've ever sat in, and I'd expect nothing less from their ladder stands. I'm not sure of its features, but I always look for two things in a ladder stand: A seat that folds up, so you can stand with your back against the tree (and blend in), and an adjustable (height/length) shooting rail, if it has one.

The 20' Muddy archer ladder is the bomb.... Light, generous platform, and comfy as hell.
