It's nice of them to offer to bring them back in the future for repairs, but if I owned any I'd just make a trip to my local hardware store and buy some hardened bolts and replace them myself and be done with it.

If someone was worried about the cost, I'd bet Muddy would be willing to reimburse you... it'd probably be cheaper than them having to pay for shipping both ways for the repairs.

In todays sue happy world that would not fly, good idea and I may just do it myself, but Muddy would never allow that to happen. One door knob screws it up and he sue's muddy for his ignorance.

That's great Dan. Why don't you tell us all about the rest of your emails too and continue your non-contribution to this thread.

Ya, know....I posted that and then washed Z's bottles. I knew I could count on you having a smart ass comment when I checked in again. :D

The only other thing I could contribute to the thread would be my pleasure in knowing Muddy will be offering a full money back option......now I don't have to pawn them off to some poor unknowing sucker. ;)

From what I was told, boxes go out in July if you want to send them back and get new set.

My buddy bought a set of sticks second hand (they were basically brand new). Does anyone know if Muddy will replace his. I am thinking they would and he would just need to contact them?

Yeah, they want them all back. Just give them a call or shoot them an email for any information. You can't buy the bolt in a store, it's a custom jobbie.

Good on Muddy for taking care of the customers. Looks like I'll be ordering some more Ultimate camo tape to do up the new ones when I get them.

Hopefully nobody got hurt before they caught this.

Looks like there will be plenty of options for the customers who purchased the sticks, including credit toward other products...they are doing a very good job with regards to offering corrective solutions.

That's not exactly true. Here's the email I got from Larry at Muddy:

    Muddy Climbing Stick Recall‏
From:[IMG] [email protected] on behalf of Larry Kendall ([email protected]) Sent:Thu 5/27/10 2:49 PMTo: [email protected]
    May 25, 2010

ATTENTION ALL PURCHASERS AND USERS OF MUDDY OUTDOORS 2009 CLIMBING STICK MODEL 70301 (SINGLE 20 INCH CLIMBING STICK) AND MODEL 70304 (4 PACK 20 INCH CLIMBING STICKS).

    Dear Consumers:

Please be advised that it has recently come to our attention that there may be an issue with some of the bolts utilized to secure the cam locks to the frame of climbing sticks. Some of these affected bolts may allow the cam locks to detach from the frame of the climbing stick causing the climbing stick to release from a tree during use.
Accordingly, Muddy Outdoors is directing that all purchasers and users of these 2009 Muddy Outdoors climbing sticks – model 70301 and model 70304 - to immediately discontinue any and all use.
We will contact you in the near future concerning the procedure to return these affected climbing sticks for exchange, credit or your money back.
This does not affect the new 2010 Muddy Outdoors Climbing Sticks.
We apologize for this inconvenience, but your continued safety is our primary concern at Muddy Outdoors.
If you have any additional questions, you may contact Muddy Outdoors directly at (877) 366-8339, Ex. 706, or via email to: [email protected].
    Sincerely,

    Larry Kendall

My buddy called and talked to the folks at muddy. This was his email to me:

Nice to see a company that works with their customers.

New muddy sticks are in and shipping. I mailed mined yesterday for a exchange.

The new sticks are listed at $150 for 4!!!!! And $40 for 1!!

Muddy has gone mad. Im glad I bought mine last year because I wouldnt pay the new price. Lone wolf still has the same prices as before. Muddy has lost me as a customer and Lone wolf has gained me back.

I was going to go the route of Muddy since I had their safety harness and loved it. I was convinced that Lone Wolf was a better option, since Muddy had upped their prices. Ordered my LW stuff over the weekend, can't wait!
