I hear them out here all the time. I even have a photo of a brood of 11-13 birds on trailcam, but evidently that isn't what he wants. This place really requires someone who wants to fish and hunt without neighbors.

Yeah, he had like 3 mineral sites out there. I'll have to remind my dad about your place. He seemed kinda interested at one time. Does your pond have any Channel cat?

Have caught quite a few cats on minnows. Largest channel was 19 lbs (that was 5 years ago), and I threw him back. Average are in the 4-6 lb range.

I absolutely loved the pond on that other property. I could of just pictured myself fishing every night after school.

Difference is that was slightly less than a 1/4 acre pond and this has a 7 acre pond.

That's technically a lake in Iowa isn't it?

Yes, anything 5 acres or more is technically a lake, but to say I own property with my own private lake sounds too snooty.

Thanks... Can the soil be improved with fertilizers, lime, etc... ? We don't have pheasants so I know nothing about them... Just curious.

It would probably take a LOT of fertilizer, peat, compost and such. Although much of Iowa is covered in some of the richest soil in the nation, this little area was forgotten about.
