Well, I just choose not to listen to the radio and choose to listen to the more independent country artist. jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Chris Young, Eric Church, Jamey Johnson, not the Rascal Flatts mess. I am a early McGraw fan..... I will say that but for the Grace of God by Keith Urban is one of my favorite songs. I do like the old country to, Hank W Jr and Sr. and waylon and CDB

You obviously have no game... That song does incredible things to girls. :D

The Nickelback video is much better than the song btw.

not a huge country fan, however with what i do and have listened to, there are way too many to choose just one worst country song from. my biggest complaint is the the music business is so mixed up that anyone can be labeled a country artist, when everyone who has ears can tell it's POP.... not country. i like the older countrys, or i keep it simple and listen to rock or metal

Anything by Keith Urban, Rascal Fatts, Jack(hole) Ingram, and a LOT of Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and anyone else who hasn't been in Country Music more than 10yrs.

I have found a new hate in absurd country songs. There is a new one where some guy sings about "Water" in a simpering nasal voice. It's not the worst by far, but it's right down there at the bottom of the sea.

    :sheep:
They should sing about sheep You can't get more country than sheep

Yet.....the most popular country singers, today (male), are nothing more than situational-twangy, Reeba-esque (sounding) talking heads........."built" into the industry for their marketing portential.

Country music hasn't been "real" country music in years. Vince Gill was the last of the troubadours.

I agree all the Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Love and Theift, and crapy girl singers that has taking country radio by storm is what makes the money form the 10-17 yr old girls who like country but also like the pop side and they can get it both in the same genre. Its a bunch of money making bull!! They dont really care about their music because they dont write any of it! The REAL country thats out there now is Eric Church, Jamie Johnson, Chris Young, Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Luke Bryan, and Jake Owen! Those guys make country real and about the music not the money like those fake acts that call themselves country just cause they couldnt make it in any other genre! My favorite artist right now is Eric Church By Far!!!!

You really need to do a little research, before saying stuff like this about most of the folks you mentioned (and the other I'm not sure of, as I've never even heard of them). As much as you might not like Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban, they're artists (meaning, they write and perform their songs......including playing instruments - most of RF). Keith Urban's a helluva artist. You might not like his music (I wouldn't walk across the street to see most). But, he IS an artist. That's kinda rare in "country" music, today. See my previous post.

Vince Gill? Now that was a guy that made my ears bleed when he sang, but damn he had some good songs. To call him the last country legend is a little far fetched.

You guys all want to hear real country, but I see very few of you digging for it. If real country is what everyone wants then Jamie Johnson should be the most popular artist out there. As far as Eric Church goes....I really liked his music, but his new alblum you can tell he is going mainstream as well.

Clay walker has some good songs too.....
Zac Brown Band has some good stuff out there too, if you dont like the mainstream stuff, then go do some research on his more private music and you will find some good stuff..... Sic em on a Chicken is one of my favorites right now and hardly gets any notice around here

BTW Vince Gill makes my ears bleed too....

Just thought I would say, I absolutely can not stand to listen to Kenney Chesney.....

Vince Gill WILL be considered a CM legend. Undeniable.

When these fly-by-night guys you guys are mentioning (the ones who've materialized out of nowhere as country artists) have long been forgotten, they'll be replaced by the next situational-twangy, start-up that the industry parades onto the airwaves.

Country music, whether you know it or not, was around before 2006.

Agreed and I would consider him one now. Will country music ever be what it was? Probably not, but there are a few guys trying to bring it back.

I did not really start listening to country music until I was in my early 20's, although the first tape that was given to me was Alabama's Feels so Right followed by a Led Zepplin tape. I listened to those tapes hundreds of times. I missed the boat about the early days of country so some of you all might know a lot more about Steve Earle than I do, but dang I started to listen to him months ago and really like his music. I would like to get his greatest hits CD as almost every song I have listened to from him really strikes a chord with me.

And I agree with Jeff, so many arists sell their souls to the industry and just act country to sell records. Many of them do not even write their own songs. Come on man.

Im not knocking their ability at all and do think they have incredible talent that I could never live up too I just don think its real country and not my favorite. And yes I probobly should have done some research before making such bold statements but you get my point. Keith Urban is an amazing artist like you said and I probably shouldnt have included him in the discussion.
