Wow, I had no idea a deer this big was in the woods I hunt. I made a mock scrape and he was out there two days later. At noon!! Now I'm really regretting taking the little deer, even if it was my first with a bow. Guess I should have waited around for this guy... Oh well, maybe next year, if he makes it through gun season. Here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpJAtUcI3Jk
That's a disadvantage to trailcams, we see what might have been. That's a slammer of a buck. Blessings.......Pastorjim
Hey at least if he makes it through gun season he'll be on the top of your hit list next year and who knows how big he'll be next year? Don't be too hard on yourself you still need big bucks out there to help populate too.
thats an awesome buck and thank you trail cams... Looks like you are getting a head start on your hit list for next year.
He is probably the dominant buck in the area so let him go and pass his genetics on and get him next year.....
Just today I had to let a bigger buck than the one I shot walk away. There will be more. And you never know when you take a shot that there won't be bigger one come through 30 seconds later. Or it may be years before you see another descent buck. Its all part of the game we play. That thing is a monster though.
Here's another one that is probably 2nd on my hit list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1mRfiV9Vfw I'll be looking for sheds and may also set up a mineral block after season with the trail cam aimed at it to see if these guys survived. I definitely won't be taking just any ole buck next year, unless it's the last day of late bow season and the freezer is running low. From now on, it's doe or wall hanger.
