How does that even work. Can't someone just say hey I'm selling my Hoyt Ultra Sport for $300.00, have someone send them a money order and boom they get jipped just like that. How is that even legit to sale and trade on forums? I'm confused.....

I don't even consider it if the person doesn't have 100% good feedback or dang close to it.

There certainly is some risk to trading and selling online. It's up to the buyer if they are willing to take that risk.

Nope...and to answer the question, pay pal helps ease some of the risk involved.

I consider e-bay MUCH riskier for buying bows than the forums.

It's also what makes a smaller, more intimate forum such as this one much more palateable for such activity... as most everyone "knows" everyone around here, and has for years and years.

I think most everyone pretty much knows everyone on smaller forums. If it is someone new and nobody seemed to know them you might stay clear.

I have probably done as much selling on Ebay, and several forums as anyone, and out of the 1000's of transactions I've only been burnt a couple times.

I have found most guys are honest and a pleasure to deal with :)

As a buyer and a seller i only use us postal money orders, any default is us fed mail fraud , Takes a little longer but money is real, I give and get all info before shipping name phone numbers hm and cell and call both for verification and i google address as well as the person, everything is out there if you look. and this info should go both ways.
If they dont want to share info...walk away. if there honest they will gladly give this info wouldn't you.

when i am selling i take pics when i pack it as well as what it weighs when it ships make sure it has to be signed by a real person and not just dropped.
I always pay for insurance on the package weather it's lost, stolen ,damaged.even parts missing or removed during shipping, take pics of the package and it's condition before shipping. alot can happen when it moves from transports.

Just me, but well no, I wouldn't. The internet already has enough of my information....my home address and cell phone numbers aren't something I want to give out to a complete stranger.

Just my stance, but if you won't take Paypal I won't do business with you online. It's a shame, but too many people are untrustworthy otherwise. Paypal transactions are 100% protected, guaranteed, up to 3,000 bucks I believe.

I've had an xbox show up through ebay that wouldn't read discs. Seller said it was my problem, not his. Paypal thought otherwise. They refunded my money+shipping to drop the broken xbox back in the mail to the seller.

I've ordered multiple items through ebay that never showed up. All refunded immediately through paypal.

I've even ordered something through a forums classifieds that never arrived. Again Paypal refunded me.

One common thing with Paypal and scams, it seems they will always refund the buyer who makes a claim with no questions asked unless the seller provides some very very solid proof that you the buyer are lying.

I think they claim 3% of the total transfer of money, but it's easily worth the peace of mind to the seller and buyer. Money is guaranteed to seller, Insurance against fraud is guaranteed to the buyer.

There are thousands of horror storys about paypal on the web.

but for a guy on here or other web site people get info when they are sending there money, I have yet lost not a penny.
if giving or asking for info is too much just goes to show how honest he wants to be.
I have just over 1000.00 going out this week and they gave this info without any problem all US money orders, paid up front because i gave and rec all the info i asked for. as for phone numbers there on the web nothing is hard to find if you are determined.

Not nearly as many as people receiving fraudulent money orders though.

Matter of opinion, I rarely buy/sell gear anymore anyway so it's a nonfactor for me now
