My dream job would be to host a hunting show on the side of an architicture career. Is this realistic at all or am I just crazy?? Would hosting a show be a full-time job due to all of the traveling or is it possible to do that on the side? And how difficult is it to get good sponsers and host a show besides buying all the expensive equipment? If this isn't realistic at all, oh well! I'll just live in a midwestern state on some prime property and be out in the woods every weekend!! :p
If you have the time to do it go for it! I'm not sure how busy you are with your architecture career...but I do think hosting a show would take a lot of time and effort that realistically you may not have...like you said...get out there on the weekends and do what you can especially if its something your going to enjoy!
Well I'm not busy with anything by high school right now! Haha, architecture is what i am going to college for, but who knows, that may change! And yeah I know I just love watching all the shows as that is about the only channel I watch and I would die to go on some of those hunts on some of those properties all year pretty much including exotics as a career!
Start a filming crew now, then try for sponsors. Michael Hunsucker of Heartland Bowhunter is on AT quite a bit, and I know he is willing to answer questions. Same with Bill Winke on the Midwest Whitetails website. Bill might be your best bet for those kinds of answers really.
It takes one of two things to make it in this industry. Money or connections. Start out w neither and you better be laying down some award winning footage to even dream of being successful. Tough tough business where many shows goals tend to be covering expenses it seems.
