There's a difference In light In the IR pictures In these 2 camera's. The 1st picture Is my new RC60 HO Reconyx and the 2nd picture Is my 2 year old RC60 Reconyx. Both camera's are set on default for night time pics. The deer In this picture Is 14 yards away (42 feet). The deer In this picture Is 11 yards away (33 feet).
How are the batteries in each of the cams? In my Cuddy no flash's, when the batteries are getting low the "flash" gets weaker.
So far Greg my older Reconyx has taken 1100 pictures on the same set of rechargeable C battery's I'm using. The battery's are at 78% yet. The 1st 500 pictures were all taken when It was unbearably cold (-15 to -30 below temps). The next 600 pictures were taken when It was right around zero.
Steve, So are you sold on the extra $$ for the Reconyx HO? I think you have convinced me on the recharchables over the lithiums. Thanks for the advice. Blessings.....Pastorjim
Just an FYI guys - Reconyx has two new cams coming out this year that have faster trigger speeds, longer battery life, are smaller in size, and take SD cards for about $100 less than the current models. Saw them this weekend and was very impressed. If they work nearly as well as the current lineup, I will definitely be picking up a couple for myself. I've got better photos that will be up tomorrow, and a video interview with one of the Reconyx guys that will be up next week. http://www.bowhunting.com/blog/post/2010/01/13/Reconyx-HC600-and-HC500.aspx
The trigger time Is the same Justin as my RC60's are. I do like the Idea though of the camera being smaller. I have noticed deer looking at my RC60 some. Thanks Justin for the heads up on the new Reconyx cams, looking forward to checking these out as well.
So far these NiMH enercell rechargables I'm using are working slick as heck. One thing everyone should know Is look at the mAh on your battery. The higher that Is the longer they will last. The guy at Radio Shack told me this, makes allot of sense. My mAh on my rechargable enercell C battery's Is 3500. What's yours Jim?
You're right about the trigger speed, I was thinking of the speed the cam takes photos. The RC55 and RC60 both take 1 photo/second. The new cams will take 2/second. Having SD cards will be nice too, as they are more readily available, cheaper, and what is used in most other cameras.
