I am thinking about hunting out of a blind for the first time in an area that doesn't have any stand worthy trees. I have a blind that I've never used, I think it would be perfect for this particular spot. There is swamp and reeds behind the spot, perfect to conceal the blind and deer won't get downwind of me. My question is this: Is it practical to rattle from a blind? I wasn't sure if it would be too muffled, or if it would be a bad idea because you can't see a buck coming from as far away, and risk giving yourself up by rattling when he is too close. Anyone have experience/success with rattling in bucks from a blind?

Possibly as a last resort you could rattle, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You would definitely be giving away your location and if a buck does come in he will be at full attention. Unless you have a decoy to take the focus off of you, it probably would get you busted. Even with a decoy, I still don't like your odds.

I wouldn't like the odds unless you can see him coming or have an idea of where he should be? even so I wouldn't chance it because he will be locked on to you as soon as he hears it, especially being on the ground you need him to pay attention to something else and not be looking at you... personally I wouldn't do it
