Looking to get a new set of Antlersantlers and am not sure where to start. Unfortunately I am the world's worst shed hunter so need to go with store bought. Curious to hear what you guys prefer...fire away

Whatever you do, don't over do it with the rattles and the calls. Another reason I don't like hunting this time of year, last weekend someone thought it was a good idea to make nonstop calls for over an hour. You can buy authentic whitetail antlers for about 100 bucks give or take.

I bought some Black rack antlers and I didn't like them. So I went to an archery shop and bought some deer antlers from them.

Everyone has their preferences, and I'm sure people will scuff at this, but I have had very reasonable success calling in deer using a rattling bag. Quiet and easy to pack out to ur stand. The reason I decided to give them a try was because I was sick of wrestling full antlers into the tree (especially when I was using a climber).

I have a set that I pulled off a dead buck that I came across a few years ago, but seems like the Pack Rack from Knight & Hale is a nice compact system that seems to sound pretty good. I have no experience with them though.

Rattle bag +3. But like MasterHunter said, use them sparingly. I like to do a 30-45 second sequence of grunts / rattles every 1.5 hours. Brought this years 7 point in on a string.

You can get a decent set of real ones on eBay.

I have had good luck with a rattle bag. Personally, I avoid anything made from plastic. It does not sound realistic to me.

I have used a rattle bag in the past. Blew a hole in the bottom of it last year and started losing pieces so thought I would get some opinions. Thanks all

Honestly, real antlers don't sound like real antlers either. I find that my rattling antlers have a little higher pitch than when I hear bucks fighting, I figure that is because the base of the antler is still attached to the skull of the buck and doesn't allow that end to vibrate like it does on a set of rattling antlers. I honestly think the actual sound is less important than when and where it's done.

Nothing but the real thing for me. I had a rattle bag, used it two years ago when I was in Illinois.... My hunting partner Had real antlers. The sound was completely different. He was able to rattle in a few bucks, and I just had squirrels laughing at me. I left the Rattle bag hanging in the tree. Wonder if it's still there?
