I have a load i'd like to drop and my wife couldn't care less for the subject:bash:

Nearly everyday i'll click on the outdoor/sportsmans channel hoping to catch a good hunt that truly appeals to me. Yet, nearly every day I am disgusted to the point that clicking to the "The View" sounds more appeasing. It's always the same. Some no-it-all *******, who coincidentally knows nothing, out there chasing some animal from the back of a land rover discussing how hard his hunt was. The shows featuring the exotics are the worst.

I am continually let down by the perfect shots, hard work, and product whoring. Gone are the days of class, respect, and a somewhat remote connection to nature and animals abound it. I am deeply concerned for the next generation and the sport and lifestyle in general.

    .. Rant over, for now.

I just watched a guy on the sportsman's channel the other day, Shoot an ALERT deer and 83 YARDS with a bow.... He smoked it... but if that deer would have even twitched at 83 yards it could have been bad... I watched in disbelief...

If there are any good ones out there, i'll never see them. I got rid of my channels a couple years ago. Nothing i ever saw on Tv related one bit to the hunting here in central Pa.

That Bow Hunt or Die show on the Internet is pretty good ;) I haven't watched anything on the outdoor channel for years. Got tired of seeing poor shots on game and hearing some of the worst turkey callers imaginable. I don't care so much about the advertising, but the shows would be more enjoyable if the product pimping were a little more subtle.

Yup. I stopped watchin most shows. Now it's just BH or die. I hate when they obviously recreate stalks or shots. So obvious when the camera man is ahead of the stalker. They must have a low opinion of actual hunters.

The only hunting show I watch (on tv) is heartland bowhunter. It's actually one of my favorite shows in general.
I'll also catch midwest whitetail and bowhunt or die here.

I watched some but they were awful. One show I watched, which will remain nameless, it seemed like every time they went on a hunt they used the phrase "well I put a bad hit on him..." It's beyond me how these guys got a show.

I've been off the hunting show loop for a while, just too busy, but lately I caught a few and wow was I utterly disgusted at some of the shots that were taken. Horrible, horrible choices. Some worked out, some didnt and I can't quite recall the name of the show, the the guys were hacks, but I don't want to guess and say the wrong name.

There's a guy whose name I won't say but his initials are Jackie Bushman... super nice guy but it seems that every deer he hits is a little "back". BM needs to stop showing those hunts... it makes people think that a deer hit in the stomach is easily recoverable since they always show him with the deer he "smoked." That's just not reality! He doesn't mention that he has a team of experts helping him or that the guides likely have a tracking dog or better yet a fenced enclosure. I don't know the details but it makes it look as if a bad shot is okay as long as you wait til the next morning for an easy recovery. Now I am definitely an advocate of when in doubt... wait it out... even in coyote country but guys, hitting 'back." is not an enviable shot... nor is a quartering to shot or even a quartering away shot if you don't understand passing angles. And for most people those 35 yard shots are too far... Yes I can hit them... so can most of you probably. I used to take them... but wisdom over time tells me... wait... and he'll either get closer or I'll get another chance tomorrow. They're just not dealing in reality and IMO set a bad example for young hunters.

The things that I think really irks me the most about these shows is the obvious lack of emotion or appreciation on the kill. Obviously every entertains the celebration in their own way, but.... The whooping and hollering, the "yeah baby!", the forced laugh.. its all disrespectful in my opinion.

I often times think how the modern grandfathers of archery would look upon us. Proud of our technological feats? Disappointed in our missed connections?

I quit watching since the overwhelming product placement squeezed out any real substance these shows had

Tony can shoot the deer and Vito can film the tracking job.
