I'm in the market for a rangefinder and after looking at the Nikon Archers Choice Max and the Leica CRF 1200 I really like the Leica way better. Are there more I should check out before I buy the Leica?

I loved my Nikon. I even left it out, hung on a fence on my farm, in a rain storm. Came back next day and IT STILL FREAKING WORKED !!!

I bought 2 Bushnell 600 (the bone collector model), yup, they suck ! I would not recommend.

I was looking at the Leica as well but it doesnt work well on really dark objects. I got the nikon monarch 1200. Archers choice is great if you hunt out of a stand but 100 yards doesn't work when you are doing spot and stalk. I use mine to plan stalks. You can range an animal and range a bush or tree to find a spot where you have a shot, just subtract the difference. As long as they stay in the same general area.

I have the Nikon Prostaff 550. It has been great so far. I like that it goes from 11 yards out to at least a couple hundred. obviously they claim 550 yards but I don't buy that. I really only need it to go out to 300, as that would probably be the limits of my accuracy.

I've got Great service out of my Bushnell. I had a Nikon but it gave me a few problems. I am quite sure those problems are isolated as you hear too many good things about Nikon.

The Archer's Choice Max is a nice looking piece of equipment and I am sure it would work Great.

I would not spend the huge $$$ for some of these rangefinders since I only Bowhunt. If I did some long range gunnin' then I might feel different :)
