Looking to get a rangefinder. I was thinking about the Bushnell The Truth 4x20 Laser Rangefinder and wondered if anyone had one or any hands on with it. Or any other recommendations that wont break the bank. I found that Bushnell on sale online for 159 shipped but haven't seen it in any of the store to get my hands on it and try it out.
I paid $149 last year for my Nikon Pro Staff 3 and it's been great. I compared it a Bushnell (comparable model) and the Nikon seemed brighter. My only complain (with most brands) is the black numbers are hard to see in low light, I wish rangefinders used a different color.
Leupold RX-1000X, is what I have, 6X magnification, awesome light transmission, angle comp., lighted reticle, and accurate to 1/10 of a yard. By far the best rangefinder I have ever owned! I can range well after you should be out of the woods.
I just bought that range finder a couple months ago. Great so far but haven't had it in the field yet. It only ranges to 200 yards so if you want it for rifle hunting it won't be as good as others that range for both bow and rifle. Only other thing is it won't range in tenths of yards, only full 1 yard increments. Aside from those 2 things it's been great so far.
One thing to consider... Unless you really like it I personally wouldn't recommend the angle compensation deal. Just looking at the math, it isn't worth it. I know in an ad one company does it shows a hunter up a tree and how there's a 10 yard difference with and without angle compensation. At the ranges given, that hunter would have to be 50 feet above the deer. Just something to think about
Right, and I know a lot of them have it already. I just personally wouldn't make that the make or break deal in my purchase choice
It's a must have for me. I have some stand sights that are 60' to the ground on one side of stand when 20' up the tree. Flat landers that never step foot on a hill, not necessary to have it but they are extremely useful on hills and given the price, seems silly not to get it if you ever encounter hills. My son is getting ready to purchase a Bushnell with arc with bow and rifle modes for $150.
