I am planning to buy a rangefinder soon and have narrowed my choices down to either the Archer's Choice or Bushnell's Bowhunter-Chuck Adams Edition. Which do you recommend? Has anyone had any problems with either model?
Chuck Adam's Edition is pointless just cause it has his name on it doesn't make it better. I have used my friends Bushnell Sport or Scout and it a good rangefinder. As far as price goes I'd go for a Bushnell you can get them for as cheap as $100
Rangefinder I went through this decision just a few weeks ago. After going to the local BP shop and looking at them I decided on the Archers Choice. Its display was brighter and less confusing then the Bushnell Chuck Adams. Only thing I didn't like about the Archers Choice is the fact it doesn't range accurately beyond 100 yds. The sales rep. at BP told me that it would actually go beyond the 100 yds just wouldn't do the angle compensation beyond that. So I got it. But after getting it home I found out that was not true. Its max range is 100 yds. So I returned it and got the Nikon RifleHunter 550 since I actually needed one for firearms season as well. I would suggest getting a Nikon.
I just picked up the archers choice with the neoprene cover and I must say it works wonderful. I actually had to fine tune my pins at 10, 20 & 30 yards but now she is dead on again! It's true that it wont go past 100 yards with the angle mode turned on but I got it to go as far as 139.4 yards. You have to figure though that unless you are in serious open woods you wont be getting a shotgun or rifle shot that far anyway. Most fields I shoot on are 100-200 yards and with my 7mm-08 there isnt much of a drop from 100-200. With all that said I feel this range finder is perfect for bow hunting and will work awesome during the gun season in the woods.
I have the Leupold RX-II. I have loved it and had no problems with it till I dropped it a few weeks ago. Now it is on it's way to be repaired but I can't blame that on the unit. Stupid human error!
I have a Nikon 400 I bought seriously 9 years ago it's on the same battery! I use it everytime out too. Not that others won't be great but I am completely blown away by the dependability of this Nikon.
Another vote for the Leupold RX-II. Never had any problems with mine and they work GREAT if you don't drop them:p
Well I jinxed myself. Climbing into the stand boom Nikon falls 20 feet to the ground. lol It is not dependable anymore. I sent it in with a letter we will see what Nikon comes up with. I was thinking about that when I posted here too.
I have the Bushnell scout 1000 w/ arc works great. no complaints I just need to find a good teather or strap
