I picked up the Bushnell Scout 1000 Arc at ****s for $125. I wasn't even going to buy one, but this deal was too good to pass up. It was the last one they had of a special packaging run (Fields of Honor Patriot Edition) and was an open box. That didn't bother me and the unit has performed flawlessly. This was steal and probably a hard to come by deal, but do some shopping around and you might be surprised what deals you can find. I called another ****s after buying this one to try to pick one up for my father, but they still had several in stock and they were all regular price. If you're going to choose a lower priced unit, make sure you do your research on the model and make sure it has the features you want/need. Also, make sure the manufacturer you choose has a good track record with customer service in case you need the unit serviced/replaced.

I just purchased my first rangefinder this year. I went with the Bushnell Chuck Adams Edition. It was on sale at Cabela's for $150. I love it. However, I'm still not sold on the whole angle range compensation (ARC) though. For the moderate heights and distances that I choose to hunt, the difference between the line of sight (LOS) measurement and the ARC calculation has never been more the 2-3 yards. My pins are close enough together that 2-3 yards doesn't really effect my point of impact. Just my opinion though.

Bushnell Yardage Pro 450. Birthday present from my wife 3 years ago. It works fine for me, and priced between $110 and $130 on Amazon. I'm sure newer models are more advanced, but it's pretty accurate.

Leupold RX1000i TBR is the best on the market right now by most accounts. It's pricey tho.

I may end up going with a mid range unit as well instead, although mine will certainly have tha angle compensation feature built in, go hunting in steep areas and you will really see a difference.
