What are the recomendations for a good quality range finder?

Currently looking at getting Leupold RX1000 TBR compact with DNA.

what do you use and are you happy with it?

    Thanks in advance

added would be used for bow and gun hunting.

I bought the leupold rx-750 before elk hunting this year. I love it. Sometimes it takes a few times to get a reading on some things though.

That depends on what you need it for. Rifle, bow, or both? How long of shots do you take? Most my shots are typically less then $250 yards. I use the Nikon 550 RifleHunter and it has served me well. Picked it up brand new in the box for $200 on eGay.

I would use it for mostly bowhunting but would like it to be usable for gun hunting also.

I bought the redfield raider 550 range finder last year...I bowhunt 98% of the time and it works great...its light compact and goes for about $160(black) or $180(camo)...I've tested it out on known distances and its off by 1-2yds which is accurate enough for me!

I just recently bought the bushnell chuck adams addition range finder this year and it is awesome for bowhunting. It says it could range a deer up to 200 yrds so depending on how far you plan to shoot with your gun I'd say give this a look because its one of the cheaper range finders. I found it on amazon for about $160. It also has the ARC technology so if you're in a stand it will give you the "true horizontal distance". Some people will argue its not a big deal but sometimes when you shoot out to longer distances with a heavier arrow a few yards could mean a few inches too, just a thought to keep in mind. I also plan on using it for golf too. If im outside of 200 i can just shoot the front of the green to get a reading so im excited to try that out too.

I have a Leica 1200. It just flat out works. Ranges well beyond 1200 in all conditions. Had a Nikon before, but the 400 only ranged deer to 250 yds. This Leica goes above and beyond. Works awesome all the time.

I have a cabelas VLRII by Bushnell. I don't like very much. In full sun it usually doesn't work and if you yardage the same thing multiple times it usually gives 2-3 different distances. Granted they are normally only 1 yard apart but occasionally I'll get a 19 then 22, then 20 or somthing like that. Usually go with the best of 5. Dad has a Nikon 550 and I have used that and love it.

I have a little Nikon 440 that I picked up years ago. I love the thing. It doesn't have the angle stuff for treestand hunting, but honestly, I've ranged numerous objects on the ground from 20ft up with this rangefinder and can hit within a couple of inches of it.

I think I paid around $220 for mine.

Well originally I bought the TLR 75 Ranging because of the price was hard to beat, but I soon returned it because I didn't believe its accuracy. I spent a little more and bought the Wildegame Innovation Halo AL R600 RHX Laser Range Finder and couldn't be happier.
