What pro sports does for the American economy is unmeasurable. Without sports, alot of companies would go belly up and alot of people would be jobless.

What arguement are you talking about?

I said Moss was the best DEEP THREAT EVER...someone compared Calvin Johson to to him ealier in the thread....a comparison which made little sense to me as he is only about half way to a comparible career and is a different type of receiver. You conveniently ignored a post I made after the one you reponded too.

Jerry Rice is easily the best receiver to ever play in the NFL...if not the best PLAYER period...if you don't agree i'm not sure what to tell you?

One other thing...there is 40 speed and there is GAME speed wearing the pads...you remember many defensive backs ever catching Jerry? Anyone who doesn't think he was fast didn't actually watch him play

I'm not really a sports fan although I do enjoy a football game once in a while. Your comment got me thinking.

I wonder what the American economy would be like if Americans would put more time and effort into studies such as technology, finance, science etc., instead of paying such high prices to watch and/or play games.

Sadly, it seems that Americans place entertainment above education and financial security.

Lol people pay to go to WWE wrestling shows too, people will pay to see other people do things they wish they could do. Not saying its wrong and not doubting it's large impact on the economy, by all means spend money, thats what we need more people to do.

Maybe instead of the Fed pumping money, they should have pumped season tickets out to all sports fans so we go and buy overpriced beer, sounds like a win win.

GregH, that's pretty much what China is doing. Not saying they're correct in their ideology, but besides the whole communism thing they seem to be doing something right.

To say he is better than Rice is a joke IMO. However he is easily (without debate) top 5. He was a freak of nature and changed the game. His antics and lack of living up to that talent probably cost him from perhaps being the best ever. Even still, no doubt top five... maybe 2 or 3. And as far as the QB throwing that is throwing to the other greats? Ever think the WR (Rice) made the QB as much as the other way around?

Why does personality & off field antics come into play when judging who was the best on the field?

That seems to happen a lot when these types of comparisons happen.

Because it effects a player to play to their God given talent and potential. Under achieve so to speak with the physical tools that were given to them because their brain got in the way.

I don't think Siman is the best player ever either... doesn't mean I don't like the guy.

What am I saying he is right about????

To say any one player is the best because he is the best today seems a bit short sighted. There have been a lot of players over the years and it is really easy to miss some of them like Stallworth, Casper, Branch, even Hines Ward of late. Wow... make a list of all players for all times and there have been some really great players. Even Moss isn't old enough to remember some of the players he thinks he is better than. The game was different in the 60s and 70s when I first started following it.

Your point? Jerry Rice (the actual greatest WR of all time) caught 3 passes for 25 yards in his final game. You don't judge a player on one game in the twilight of his career.

You are the only person I've heard say he isn't a top 5 all time WR. Most people put him #2 on the list.
