I have the answer for the downturn in my area, MOBOW brought his MOJO!!:D Seriously, This is what I keep telling myself after every trip to my property this fall. But I think there has to be more to it than just the corn. The whole area where I hunt is having a bad year. (Except for Scott/IL). My taxi is down about 50% from the last few years, in both bow and gun kills. I bet my deer sighting are down 50% from what I saw last year on my farm too and I have more food planted for them this year. I'm sure the corn the warm weather the rain and the full moon timing all had something to do with it. I'm just hoping for a good late season and all of those Booners that will be running around next year.
I don't have any corn anywhere near me on either of our properties, and we are having the same "bad year" as others mention. I have no clue what it is, other than it ain't corn. I know the kill is down this year in the counties I hunt for sure. Ironically, heading into Nov this year....I thought it was gonna be a great month. Full moon to start the month, and a cold snap (here) "should have" set up for a pheonomenal Nov. Honestly, it sucked. Worse I've seen in 10yrs here. I'm hoping Dec will be better!
Your right I've been having a great year for seeing bucks, but the standing corn was the main reason I was seeing them by using it to my advantage. The taxi I take my stuff to had his numbers way down as well.
