So I finally shot at an indoor range last week and again on Saturday. Did a lot of good shooting. Until then the only bow I have ever shot was my FX. In the last few days I've shot a bowtech destroyer, mathews z7x, and the carbon element. To be honest my favorite was the mathews, yes, even over the element. The bowtech just felt very uncomfortable, it was even at the correct draw length and the element hit, it shot very hard, but you could feel it and I just didn't like that. Don't be defensive, i'm not slamming anyone's choice, we all know it's in the feel and comfort.
With that said, I can't wait to get my z7 extreme. That will come in time.

Also, I learned my sight totally sucks! I have an old, what appears to be tru-glo with verical pins. The sight ring has fallen off somewhere before I got it, and therefore it is impossible to line up with the peep correctly. And, my arrows are extremely heavy, like to the tune of 425 grains.

At this point i'm not palnning on replacing any of it. I'd rather use that money to fund my new bow and the accessories.

In sum, change it up, you learn things. And it's pretty cool seeing a dinosaur of a FX keeping pace with a brand new hoyt and bowtech.

Glad you like it. You can always buy new accessories now if you arent going to buy the bow yet. They will all transfer. But if your happy right now stick with it. I cant wait to buy my first new bow!!!! I am leaning towards either the destroyer 350, invasion, deadeye, and z7x. I will shoot many others though. Good luck

Yeah, if I can't come up with the funds for the z7x, I'm going to put a new sight on it.
As everyone will say, shoot as many as you can. I saw a rytera today at the deer expo that looked really nice, but I'm not sure any store around that carries them.
After shooting those though, it makes my bow feel like you're pulling it through sand lol. I just got that FX before I knew anything about bows. I got it because I knew it was a good known brand and I could use it to learn. I never thought it would consume my life though!
If anyone needs some 3 inch dynomax ultra flo mufflers brand new in box, let me know, would be a great addition to the bow fund! lol

HAHA. I shoot a 2002 bowtech extreme vft and I am a little nervous to shoot any new ones because of how my bow may feel after I do. LOL. But when I have the money I will definately shoot many bows.

Sounds like you've been having a good time at a good shop. I would probably replace the sight sooner than later. You can always put it on the new bow when you get it, so you wouldn't have to buy 2. As for your arrows, I wouldn't consider 425 extremely heavy. What draw weight are you shooting?

You're right, I can move it over to my new bow. Actually, I'll be starting a sight thread right after this. I need some help finding the one I want.
The bow will draw to 70#. I have it set somewhere in the mid to lower 60s just out of comfort. However, at 40 yards, you're pretty much lobbing them in. I'm thinking if I go to a 350 grain setup, that at 40 yards it will be much more flat.

It's always Fun going to shops and shooting New bows. I have shot many of the Top bows this year and personally I thought The Element and the Invasion were the cream of the crop to date.

I am waiting on my shipment of 2011 Maitland Retributions before I decide what my personal bow will be this year. Shipments are supposed to arrive within 2 weeks.

Enjoy your new bow when it comes in! :)

    Dan
