I know that there aren't many NBA fans here but I felt that the Boston Celtics point guard needed some credit. With the NFL lockout happening we are seeing athletes complaining about money, but last night Rajon Rondo was injured in a playoff game vs. the Miami Heat. He fell to the ground and hyper-extended/dislocated his elbow in one of.the worst looking basketball injuries in recent times. Rondo appeared to be out for the series and more than likely the season but he decided to return for the 4th quarter and play. He put everything aside for his team and finished the game off while playing with one arm. It was refreshing to see a player more worried about his team than himself. If you have'nt seen the replays it is worth checking out.

I still grimace everytime I see the replay, his elbow buckles in the wrong direction! I think he's toast for the series tho now, which in turn makes the celtics toast. I sure hope I'm wrong, I wanted to see a bulls celtics matchip

I hear ya Trevor, my elbow seriously hurt just watching that happen. I find it hard to believe his X-ray's came back negative. Rumor has it he will play Monday, I just can't see it. I was hoping for another Celtics/Lakers finals but I believe we are going to see a Heat/Mavericks finals.

BM, heck yeah he is tough as nails. A lot of the times when someone has a serious injury like that, they can get back into the game and play due to the adrenalin and the lack of swelling. Once the swelling starts and all those ligaments begin to tighten up due to being stretched, his arm will be locked up bad. I remember tearing my MCL in a football game, yet finished 3 more quarters. I could barely walk for 4-5 days after that even though it barely affected me during the game. I think (but do not hope) Rondo will be in the same boat as me.

If Bynum played as "tough" as that foul(assault) he issued, then he would be an all-star. If that was old school NBA, he would have been jack slapped as he paraded past the Dallas bench. I hope someone takes him out early next year.

I agree with you, but who could take out Bynum? Lol he s legit one of the biggest dudes in the league, he even makes 6'8" guys look like pip-squeaks lol.

I think if the lakers want to capitalize on Bryants downhill yet still awesome years, they need a massive overhaul. Get rid of fisher, artest, and Bynum. Possibly bring in D Howard for a huge presence down low and someone to build on after Kobe retires, and young fresh legs to fill out the roster building on veteran leadership of Kobe, Pau, and Odom.

The lakers are huge, the lakers are veterans, but the lakers are NOT a 3 point threat as a team, nor are they quick.

Celtics will have to undergo a similar rebuilding soon as well.

I hope to see a mavs bulls match up in finals at this point, now that it seems celtics and lakers rematch can't happen

It was good news for my Heat when it happened lol. Definitely a nasty injury though, and he really showed how much he wanted to win by going back out there. Nothing but respect for him.

Agreed, Rondo is a tough dude. I have a lot of respect for the guys that play through injuries for their team, not for dollars.

I always felt Iverson didn't get enough credit for that. He never complained about his injuries, or brought attention to the, and never used them as an excuse. The guy played hurt more often than he played 100% healthy.

That showed some true toughness for sure. Very impressive. I didn't think there was a chance of him returning the rest of the series let alone in that game. Nice to see the competitiveness.

    Agreed!
Problem for me is Iverson's his punk attitude - great competitior and great abilities never seem to surpass attitude...

He looks cool to all the teen-agers thou:)

I agree. He did bad things to overshadow the good. I think if you look at pound-for-pound toughest NBA guys in recent years, he has to be near the top of that list.

Pound for pound, there is no NBA player who had as much talent, toughness and grit as Iverson. Truly one of the most unique talents the game as seen.

As far as the Lakers are concerned, and this coming from a Laker fan, they need some personnel changes, but it won't be as easy as everyone is making it out to be. They owe that team a lot of money for several years to come.

There best bet is to trade Bynum straight up for Dwight Howard or Chris Paul. Say what you want about Bynum, and I have questioned his loyalty and respect for team for a while now, he is the best young big man in the Leauge right now. He has the skill, toughness, size and basketball intelligence to be a major force in this league very soon.

I know wingspan gets thrown around a lot by scouts, but Iverson epitomized the benefit of a long wingspan...at least for a guard. I remember a still shot of him dribbling behind his back. The ball was past his hip on the opposite side and his hand was still on the ball. He had long arms for his size, and he used them well. Not just on the dribble, but around the basket as well. A unique player for sure.

I got to meet and played with some of Iverson's teammates in highschool. You should have seen the talent he was surrounded with in highschool. Bethel was absolutely loaded and took down states in basketball and football Iverson's junior year. The guy was equally good at football.
