Well hit the woods this mornin even though the weather was still crappy. This is basically the last free weekend I had to hunt before I have some buddies comin from out of state and family obligations that will limit my time. This also caused me to opt for the ol 835 instead of my bow as the birds have been henned up and hard to get in bow range and I needed to get tagged out. Birds were lockjaw early but I slipped on in. When I got to the edge of the woods I hit the howler and the whole bottom erupted in thunder. I set up and waited. There were six gobblers and some hens finally two birds broke away and were skirting the ridge to the west of me. I reposition to where I thought they would end up and when they popped out at 50yds the old mossberg gave one a bad case of the flops.
Bird weighs 1bs 1 in spurs and a full fan but only 3.5 in beard. Anyway smoked turkey and morels for dinner to tonight! Not the best pics. Wet birds just aren't real photogenic lol
