Still not much on my main property but we got all of the stands hung. Must been planned that my family property is getting logged and we just found out they start next week and will be done before season. I doubt we'll be hunting it anytime near the beginning of the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure I'll get out on our Oct 1st opener...I missed last year and broke my 20 year streak of always getting out on the Oct 1st opener...it was a good run but 4 kids have gotten in the way... Hope to get first hunt in possibly Oct 5th...
Just went and had my first camera pull of the year. A ton of bucks and a couple larger bucks. What are yall's thoughts on the one still in velvet with the giant bases? Do you think his tines will grow or is that just his genetics? Ive never seen him before in past years.
Kinda reminds me of FC crazy bases lotta junk poor tine length... genetics, he will likely always be that way.
In that case if I see him I will definitely take him out of the herd. Shot a 156" two years back and have seen many of that caliber on this property. Don't want those genes to get tampered with!
This picture is off of the newest property I'm hunting. It's a mile away from my home property. Where this buck was last spotted earlier in the summer. My treestand is 19 feet away in the right corner. Hopefully he makes the same trek next Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well FC made is typical move as predicted and took off to the neighbors as soon as he shed last week. All the deer are making their shift. LOTS of new bucks showed up in the last week. None of the big boys have been caught on the cams yet, at least not the ones I have been able to check.
Looks like I will have part of Saturday and all day Sunday to play in the woods. Gonna check all the cams on Sat, see if I get any surprises, but I will likely just get out and get an early season doe on the ground......
I am going to try and go up to one of the Local WMA's on Saturday and see what I can get. Let hope Mother Nature doesn't have other plans. We have a 25-50% chance of morning rain so I will probably be hunting from the ground.
Been a crazy week, I just got permission on a new 131 acre farm about 20 miles from my drive way. Headed to check it out right after work. I know the area pretty well should be a promising piece. Then headed down to the farms in southwest Illinois to check cams Sunday morning.
Me and my hunting partner check cams for the last time today before the season next sautrday.. today is a big day on deciding where to hunt.
I went out Saturday Morning and it was cold and windy and nothing showed up so I am hoping to head out weekend after next since they are doing a draw hunt this weekend.
Crazy night in stand last evening, tons of deer but no shooters...... Had a blast watching the young bucks dog does and fight though. Think I'll switch it up and hunt behind the house next sit, gonna check those cams tonight and see what gives...
