Good luck on the Bear hunt - sounds fun! Wouldn't mind getting me a bear rug one day...never had desire to hunt them until I had one at 30yds in CO with no tag
Sorry guys I finally checked this and realized that we had been assigned teams. Just started up school so I've been super busy my fault. Update: Went out and hung 10 trail cameras on the 300 acre soy bean field that I hunt. When I was going in to hang one of them I jumped a bachelor pair of two nice bucks (8-10 point bucks) that appeared to be at least 140+. Looking forward to seeing what the trail cameras come up with over the next month!! Shot a 146 3/8 (official) on the same field two years ago and passed on a couple nice 8's last year. Things are looking up.
Tried to get my DSLR out in time lay night to shoot some pics of a ohio giant laying down in middle of soy beans. My gosh he was a stud. Another car pulled yelling and singing and he took off
Just checked the cams for the first time on the new property with a only a few small bucks wandering around in one area. We got 3 stands hung with 2 more still to go. We spread some corn in a few areas and my food plots are both looking good! The only problem is that it seems only coons and an all white cat me and my hunting partner dubbed "covert" is the only animal roaming either food plots. We check the cams, hang a few more stands on Sunday so maybe we'll come up with something. We have been seeing a few nice deer hanging around in the area when we're scouting and we did see 9 bucks a few weeks ago on a soybean field butting up to the property. A few of them looked really nice. On the family property we have a couple mature shooter bucks making daily and nightly appearances. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am leaving early tomorrow morning! This has already been the longest day eveeeerrrrrr.......... lol
Hahahaha I bet dude! Well be safe an good luck. Keep us updated, maybe we can get an extra 100 points for a bear kill!!
I will keep ya posted, with any luck that will include some hero shots with both bear and some good muskie
Headin out sat to clean up shootin lanes, safety check the stands I missed last time and mow a walking path. Backin out and leaving things alone till season gets here. 27 days to go.
We are hoping for the contractor to get our food plot areas bull dozed here shortly and waiting for wetlands to be done by mid October. 2 old log landing areas will be planted and old logging road will planted asap
It was awesome! Ate a tag sammich but I will definately be going back next year. Check out Toms post in the trail cam section and you'll see one of the giant bruins that we were hunting. Saw 1 bear the first day but no shot. Pete killed Sunday night, small bear though. Overall great trip, that is some awesome country and I made some sweet connections for next years hunt. Youth season opened here last Saturday so gotta try and get my daughter on a deer this weekend before my season opens on the 15th. Haven't checked cams in two weeks, hoping to get out there tonight and see whats up. Expect to see velvet off and hopefully FC hasn't broke pattern yet. We shall see..... One thing is for sure, IT'S GO TIME!
