Another close call last night. Had a new buck show up, came in from behind me and offered a 25 yd shot but I couldn't get the camera on him where he stood. Never got him to come around before losing light. 140ish" 10 point, not the big ten I have been chasing, but if I could have gotten the camera on him I would have let one fly. The bucks are moving very well on both of my places. I will have a midday sit on Sat and all day Sun, hopefully something will come together for me. How is everyone else fairing?
Iv been having a tough go. Just got back from a 5 day hunt down on are southwest IL farms. Saw lots of 1 1/2 an 2 1/2 year olds. An only saw one shooter buck, the entire time. It was nice to get away an I hunted hard pretty much every day. Almost 50 hours in a tree lol. Property has seen a lot of pressure of the last 15 days. Slug season comes in next week witch won't make things easier. Still got shooters on trail cam. So just gonna hunt smart an hope to get some bone on the ground. I still have one really good buck that's close to home, that I'll be after this weekend.
Shot a young 8 pointer on film but hit a branch in front of blind and he made it to a property I am not allowed in. Sorry guys
I have very little update, only hunting I've done is last Monday all day, and Wed morning. Saw plenty of deer and small bucks, very minor rutting activity...but no shooters what-so-ever. No hunts last two weekends with traveling basketball games...and took my two oldest to Rams/Broncos game yesterday (was my 9yr old's birthday gift). I told my buddies I'm turning into a whiney old B--ch these last couple weeks...I've never missed Nov weekend hunts like this... Gun season this weekend - I bought my oldest another gun tag so he can shoot one of these small bucks...they are starting to make me mad
Not much of an update for me from Southern Indiana. Been hunting my tail off but...nothing to show for it. Had shooter I've been hunting all fall come in Thursday evening at 50 yrds...but never gave me a lane. Firearms season came in Saturday morning so the chances of him dead now are pretty high. Taking a few days off but will get back out there to try and get one on the ground. A couple of inches of snow on the ground here right now... Congrats to everyone so far
Ive been real busy with work and school and have gone out twice in the last two weeks. But i did get a feeder and blind set up and with the snow ill be in the blind all this upcoming weekend.
Just filled my other buck tag last night. Looks like the season is up for me. Will be back in tulsa and able to score the first deer on Friday. Let me get this right: only the first deer shot can be scored to the contest and the second one is worth a doe (50 points)?
