I don't think there is a state that allows big game hunting with a field point, just saying.

No however there are states that do not allow mechanical heads. I also personally know outfitters that do not allow them, their livelihoods depends on recovered game and they feel they are a detriment to that end.

Agreed! Why not give that info?
Seems like everyone goes after Rage broadheads to attempt to prove a point. I shot through the shoulder of a buck 2 years ago using the Rage Hypodermic at 22 yards. He was quartering towards me. Went through the shoulder and out behind the rib cage. Didn't damage the head at all. He ran 50 yards and fell over. Easton 340 FMJ. 29 in Draw Length, 100 grain Rage Hypodermic, HIT Insert, Arrow Wrap and Nocturnal X Nock (494 gr). They work for me! I haven't lost a deer using them, Original 2 Blades or Rage Extremes yet.

I only use my Rage heads once. After a kill, I drive the arrow into the ground and unscrew it. I clean the arrow when I get home and screw on a new head. Some people may say, "That is an expensive way to hunt." But how many people kill more than 3 deer a year? Not many. Most broadheads come in a 3 pack, right? I don't take chances on the one thing that actually kills the deer. Just my way of thinking!

237 pounds dressed Rage 2 blade titianum 100 grain on a CX piledriver thru both shoulder blades, 1 blade broke the buck didn't make it 50 yards. The arrow did break and the rage was found between the skin and the shoulder blade.

Good Night what a Buck! He was HUGE!! CONGRATS!! I have a friend/Archery Shop Owner that shot a 194" buck in Missouri last year at 54 yards through both shoulders using the Rage Hypodermic Deep Six on the Easton Injexion Deep Six FMJ. (I use this exact setup on one of my bows now) The buck went 70 yards and piled up. He told me over 2 years ago to never use the same broadhead twice. People that love Rage broadheads, Love Them and those that hate them Hate Them. Anytime you have moving parts being forced through any matter, something can fail. That is the nature of mechanics and applied force. Rage broadheads work for A LOT of people. I know this...They work really well with Heavy Arrow setups!

So then why be surprised? Either you can overlook it or not. Just because it can doesn't mean it always will. Like I said I've never had any of the issues and apparently others haven't either.

I don't go after Rage in general, I'm an equal opportunity mechanical hater.

I do not buy the stories about them opening in flight or not opening either. I have shot them into targets with open blades, 1 blade out never had a flight problem.

Come on now covey. I love my Rage broadheads on turkeys. Very effective so far.

That's nice but unlike some I've seen come and go on this forum, I don't do turkeys. :tu:
I lost a 180 class buck to mechanicals back years ago due to a design flaw, and I've seen too many problems with others I've tried since so there's no way I can ever see justifying a mechanical. I've never ever ever had or heard of a problem with fixed blades of decent quality.

Turkeys are kind of fun but not the same status as any in the deer family to me.
I'm glad that there are folks who have found success with mechanicals but from my experiences I wouldn't use them for anything other than turkeys.
