Are all your broadheads flaring the collar out like in the photos? I'm shooting FMJ's with Hypodermics and the collar flared out like that, then I started using the BAR adapters now and they don't but I don't torque the broadheads down, I just snug them tight. Hope you figure it out.
Yea they all do about the same amount. I put some wax on the threads of each of the heads and they all are just snugged down instead of cranking on them tight. They all seem pretty solid and the tabs dont look like they are bent out that bad to where it would be a concern I think. In all honesty though, Next year I think i'm going to change heads again. The rages just do not seem very sharp compared to other heads that I have shot in previous years. They are sharp enough to where I think they will get the job done but not what I would expect. I think next year i'm definately going to check out the NAP Killzones becuase when I shot thundeheads a few years back they were extremely sharp
I always align the blades in the slits of the collar as well. Never had a problem with doing it that way
I used to align the blades in the slits of the collars as well and have killed several deer this way. I did have problems with the blades sometimes coming loose from the collar when walking to my stand and I would always just push them back in, it was an annoyance to me. Aligning the blades in the slits cost my friend a deer as one blade slipped out of the collar when he drew back, he did not take the shot and had to re-nock another arrow. That is when I looked into how the tabs are supposed to work. Since changing to aligning the blades to the center of the tab I have not had any more annoying blade slippages and the tabs work perfect upon impact. Kurveball18 my tabs do not flare out like yours, I am shooting Beman ICS hunter arrows. This picture shows the missing tab after the shot it also shows no flare out around the head. This is a Rage Hypodermic, I do not know if it fits different than the Rage you are using.
There is an arrow on the shock collar clearly pointing to where the blade should align with the tabs snap off on impact and this is why they sell replacement collars but to each his own
Mine do the same thing. I've killed three deer with them this year and I have not had a problem. My advice is to put it in the back of your head and go kill something. All of your doubts will be erased after you see what a rage can do first hand!
In all honesty, this doesn't really effect accuracy, nor the way the blades expand once you hit your target. I've been shooting the 2.3" extreme's, the 2" hypodermics and the chisel tips for some time now using carbon express maxima's. Mine often stick out a little....nothing but clean pass through's and gaping holes mate. Don't sweat it.
