Used both and they both have done the job for me. I would consider them interchangeable. More positive retention with Killzone as some has said.
I just bought the killzone maxx Friday, and I tell u what, I probably will never switch to another broad head again. I shot a doe Saturday and it put a 4" inch hole in that doe. It ran no more than 20 ft and did a complete front flip. Amazing broad head!
I had this same debate last season and decided on the killzones for the retention system and thicker blades for more durability. Heard of rages slipping when in full draw, and blades breaking when they hit bone.
I love my Killzones, to be honest I have seen to many mishaps with rage. The only BH I would be will to try from them would be the Hypodermic; cause of the collar system. Otherwise, my Killzones haven't let me down the last 3 years. Sent from my IPhone 5S.
The only mechanical head I would shoot would be an ulmer edge. I hate mechanicals. No logic reason to shoot them.
Availability of steel ferules I can lock the blades in place for practice Hinged blade system so bone contact is not near as detrimental Blades open on contact rather than after Not an overly big cutting diameter (1.5") Besides that, this head is produced by someone I know personally who happens to be one of the most noted big bull killers in the country. It's a solid head. I left this site months ago because I was sick of assclowns like you. I come back for 6 hours and am greeted with this BS. Attention Patrons!! The "Kevin Strothers Hate Train" will be departing 5 years ago!" Get a life. ****** Canoe.
I get what backcountry is saying. These ****ing mechanical threads are sickening and so are the idiots at these archery shops that push these heads to everyone no matter their set up.
I do like steel ferrules but havent tried the ulmer edge heads yet I just bought some hypodermic heads to use this year. The ulmer edge heads look like a good design. the last lart of youre post was funny.:D
I've shot both, and prefer the killzone by far. No ring to mess with. I currently shoot the 2" with the trophy tip.
I used rages last season, no problems at all, but this year I am trying Shwackers, either way, you will be fine and cant go wrong! Best of luck!!!!
Kill zone is clearly repped and supported by people here. I would say for good reason. Watch the videos and it makes sense why people love them. I picked some up and have only killed a turkey so far with them. They fly great as do many other mechanicals. I don't see too much difference in Ulmer edge either as mentioned. They are also a good mechanical. I haven't tried them, but I know several people that love the ramcat broadheads. Big fan of trophy taker shuttle t ' too. Although that is a fixed broadhead. They fly great. I guess to answer your question. Killzone. Plenty of good options though as I'm sure others have shared.
Six to one, half a dozen to the other. Both are $40 for 3, both will kill the deer if your set up is adequate for it, and both will fly great. I killed deer with the rage hypodermics and the Killzone's last year. I am starting to become less of a fan of the two blade cuts, as the circumference is non existent (it is more of a elongated slash). The deer do not run very far, but the blood trails are rarely what is marketed. If your set up has the kinetic energy to shoot them, you cannot make much of a difference between the two. As far as failure, I have shot approximately 25 deer with the rage heads and never had a failure. So don't pay much attention to the friend of friend who had one not open. If it first hand experience, take it seriously. If not...usually an excuse for poor shot placement or a miss!
