I tried some 2 inch 3 blade Meat-Seekers a couple years ago. I was not getting pass throughs and abandoned them though they flew great and killed quickly. Blood trails stunk. From a tree stand, you are going to get high to low shot angles and you need a pass through for a good trail... especially the first 30 yards or so. Did you hit the backside shoulder?

I wouldn't quite go that far. ;) I've saw double lunged and heart shot deer go 200 yards. Then the next one goes 30 yards with the exact set up. You just never know.

I just put a perfect quartering away shot on a deer with the RAGE 2 blade and the arrow didn't pass through, It stuck in the opposite side leg and there was no blood trail. The chest cavity takes a little while to fill up.

This is the reason in not sold on rage, just seem way to finicky and unreliable. For this reason I'm giving the nap bloodrunner a shot this year, because even if it malfunctions I'll have a two blade broad head still.

Save the worry and trouble and buy some fixed blades. Nothing to fail besides the shot

I shoot the rage 2-blade and love them. But before that, my father swore on NAP Thunderhead fixed blades so that's what I started off with. Occasionally, I'd open my bow case and a blade or two fell out of the broadhead because they weren't tight enough. So even fixed blades can falter. Yes, Rage broadhead do have a very "gimicky" feel to them at first, but they're worth it. All the videos and stories behind them aren't doctored. But just like any piece of equipment, you can't just take them out of the box and shoot them. Just like L.I. Bow said, I tighten them, open them, and 'click' them back in after I nock the arrow. Not selling you on the product, everyone has a preference and with as many broadheads on the market, seems they all sell well whether fixed or mechanical.

The broadhead did not break the opposite side rib cage. I have never had this kind of issue with muzzy's, even as a kid shooting a alpine archery bow with 75gr muzzy's never had this kind of problem. I did use the orange o-ring with them. My thoughts are rage sucks. You can say what you want, but this is what happened with me. There are too many moving parts with these mechanical broadheads, broadheads aren't a science. Indians were killing deer and buffalo with flint and obsidan heads a long time ago, and if i recall those weren't mechanical broadheads, but fixed!!!

If you feel that way then why did you start using them? Shouldve stuck with whatever worked for 21 years.

Make sure you didn't use the practice head. They will never deploy. :tu:

    Man I can't Believe What I'm Hearing

Never shot what your talking about but read your story and say bravo! You watched the deer keel over 200 yards down the field, this is what we all try to achieve as a bowhunter. A good clean kill and short tracking job.It all really doesn't happen every time but you watched your deer fall. Good clean kill and easy tracking job in my book is a great hunt. The broadhead did it's job and you should be happy. Some times my fixed broad heads don't get clean pass throughs but do their job, that as a bow hunter is all we can ask for. I've used Tekan's and had an arrow go in to 10 inches last year nd fall out right away. I mean right away,it went in 10 inches and came out as fast as it went in. In actual fact I thought it didn't even stick in after reviewiing it. Let it sit for 3 hours and walked 90 yards and bingo, there he was dead. Give it them a chance to prove them selves, but then again ,your the hunter and it's your choice, good luck with the rest of your season.

If that happened to me I'd probably switch. I put the orange o ring on and the blades are too firm. I called rage and they saud they are for stalking through thick brush. I don't trust the o ring. The black one that comes on them is enough. I'm glad you recovered your deer. If you do use rage again don't use that o ring.

By your description, at that distance, shooting that KE(assuming that is correct, what is your arrow weight?) I would say that you bow is not tuned property and the arrow didn't hit the deer squarely. I just shot a doe at 17 yards at a pretty steep angle. I hit her high enough that one of the blades clipped the spine. I blew through both sides, breaking ribs on both, and had a complete pass through. I'm shooting 84 lbs KE. She fell where I hit her. I have had a similar experience to you last year. I didn't get a pass through, the broad head hit the back side leg socket. Not one drop of blood, but that was my fault. There's not broadhead on earth that would have passed through on that shot with the KE I was using last year.
