I shot at a doe yesterday evening and missed. I got up this morning and shot my bow to make sure it had not been knocked off and just practice. The field points hit dead on but the Rage was consisently hitting low and to the left about 5 inches. What could be the problem? Thanks

The Rage heads have flown exactly with field points out of every set-up I've had.

Are your field points the same weight as the Rage heads ?

It would be rare, but, you may have to tune your bow to the Rage heads. Someone can post the broadhead tuning process. Try that.

Assuming there's no discrepancy in weight between the rage's and your FP's.....and you're utilizing the exact same arrows (incl. length)......

There's no reason this should occur.

I finally decided to try the rage heads and I had the same problem, except mine flew high about 6 inches. Switched back to the thunderheads.

My Rages go up and right from my field points - tuning guide says its a marginally spined arrow. I was too lazy to drop my draw weight, so I just move my sight over for now, and only shoot my Rage practice heads.

Since I am re-stringing my bow this year and have a bow vice to do my own work - will make it work as it should properly tuned, or go to Muzzy's.

It's funny you guys are going from rages that are shooting badly out of your bow to fixed blades.... Which should magnify the problem even more.... i.e. tuning issue.

Not necessarily.. Rage's original, the Snyper has flown perfectly out of every setup I've used them on in the last 10 years... however, out of a buddies bow, tuned to perfection they flew off... when Muzzy 3 blades flew with his field points. He gave me his Snypers. :tu: (still can't explain it)

However, if anyone picks a broadhead and doesn't shoot it out of their set up to see and make sure ( don't assume they fly true) I have no sympathy for.

Proper broadhead flight is all about having a well tuned bow, especially with fixed blades.

If you shoot great with fp's, but wild with fixed blades, something with your setup is out of whack. Switching to a mechanical head that is made to fly like a fp is only hiding a problem. You'll still be lethal, but you're bow won't be performing at it's peak potential.

His Field points and let's assume his FIXED blades fly fine, his rages are off, explain that.

I shot with Rage practice heads this summer. They were off to the left and an inch or so low from my FT's.

My fixed blades fly dead nuts though.

Truth. It doesn't matter what you shoot, you need to tune your bow and make sure whatever you will be hunting with flies true. If you don't you are asking for trouble.

I do find it odd that people are finding Rages not flying with their field points but other fixed heads are. Very strange.

My 1st guess would've been that your FP's are much heavier then your Rages are but after reading Rob's post who knows.

The bottom line is you HAVE to practice with what you're going to be hunting with.

Sounds like a lot of people are having issues with this. Maybe manufacturing specs are out of whack? FOC and arrow weight forward?

Either way, I agree with early in. Gotta practice with what you're going to hunt with.

I made the mistake of purchasing a rage that was designed for lower draw weight. like 35-40 pounds. It said it on the package when i bought it but i didnt realize it till i had them for a week.

    Maybe you did that?

No, I didnt buy the KE40s or 40KEs, whichever it is. I think I'm just going to go back to my SlickTricks or maybe even try Muzzy.
