I'm going out in May to put one through a gobbler, hopfully The blades look so thin for big game though.........any one used these on deer ? What we're your results ?
I have had great results with the rage two blade heads. I prefer them to the three blade and I also like the cut on contact tips better.
I used regular 3 blade on my tom and my buck i shot last year great BH if you have the right set up. i have a buddy that used the chisle tip 2 blade last year and got some doe management done with them and seemed to like them. he just bought extreams though and i belive if i can get my hands on some hypoderimics ill be shooting them next year
Oh yeah. Killed my first deer (see avatar) with that exact broadhead. Double lunged her at 18 yards pulling 50 pounds and put holes on both sides of her. She went all of 60 yards and expired. Gnarly hole, and left me about a 1 1/2 foot wide bloodtrail. Haven't shot a turkey with them, but im sure you won't be dissapointed.
I actually bought a pack of the two blade chisel tip this past season, I let my uncle use one to arrow a pope and young 8 pointer at the start of bow season and did not have good results and hit the deer perfect (he found him the next day but the coyotes got to him). I later used it on an 8 pointer and shot him as good as I thought I could have and couldn't find him (not a good blood trail)...so I switched to NAP Spitfires which is what my uncle used 6 or 7 years ago before rage even came out and he shot plenty of deer with the spitfires and never lost one. He has lost a lot of deer with the rages, many bad blood trails (like the one last season) and in the last 2 seasons I have lost 3 deer myself with the rages. I don't know if its just bad luck but the deer I had shot and lost I hit them very well from what I saw. When I switched to the spitfires this past season, I shot an 8 pointer and two does. All great shots with pass throughs on all of them. None of them ran more than 40 yards with massive blood trails, so I will keep using the spitfires. I just didnt have goodluck with the rages. The deer I did shoot with the rage in the last few years before I switched this past season; some had awesome blood trails while others not so much. Its all personal preference though. Another guy we hunt with shoots a regular two bladed rage with his crossbow and hit an 8 pointer perfect one afternoon last season, found him about 100 yards away only because he saw where he ran and the deer didn't go too far, but the entrance hole was awesome but the exit hole was like a field point came out of the deer, so the blades deployed but somehow didn't stay open and there were only a couple drops of blood (still got the job done!) but I would have wanted a better blood trail IMO. I have also had really bad penetration problems with the rages, idk why...could be my setup, poundage...etc. I love the look of the chisel tip and the design but the rage in general just hasn't been too good for me. I have had much better luck switching but sometimes thats what it takes to find something that works for you! Hope this helps...but Im a spitfire guy all the way!
just curious what pondage and arrow whieght was you using with the rages when you was having problems? i know there not for everyone and have seen some not deploy but all of mine have left good entry and exit holes with compleat pass threw
My bow has been set at right around 63 pounds and I have bounced around on arrows in the last couple years but this past year I shot the 400 easton axis arrows n-fused carbon and really liked them!
