Hey guys I just switched to Rage 2's and I opened up my first two packages and had 3 broadheads that wouldn't "snap" in as the manufacturer says it should. When you push in the blades they sort of come back out. Has anyone experienced this and if so, short of returning, did you come up with a solution.... Thanks Ken
Wow so much lip service and sooooo little help....Thanks I have had bad experiences with Muzzy's. I just switched to them this year from Spitfire xp Pro's and I have lost 3 deer this year! With the spitfires I have lost 1 deer in the last 8 years....The reason why I switched is because I went to a shoot through mesh on my ground blind. I guess I will be getting rid of the mesh becuase I won't be shooting the fixed blades any more....I know that any good razor will kill a deer on a good shot....HOWEVER bowhunting is 80% luck and 20% confidence. If you aren't confident in the equipment you are using...might as well switch.... Thanks again Oh...and if any Rage shooters have any suggestions I am still open to them...
I got Rages.....when you look at the broad head...at the base is the little rubber O ring....what I do is to roll the O ring back towards the shaft, then close the blades.....roll the O ring back into the groove....it will "snap" around the little notches on the blade. Hope that helps. SB
Hello, when you first start shooting mechanicals there's always a feeling that the blades aren't "locked" in as tight as they should be or that the rubber band or o-ring won't be strong enough to hold the blades in at the shot. However, as long as the bands or rings are fresh, they will hold the blades fine. With the Rage, just pinch the part of the blade that is closest to the front of the broadhead. As you pinch the front end the back end will press in under the o-ring. Here's a tip that has helped me when loading up my quiver with the Rage's on the arrows. Get a new piece of foam (or use your old one if it's not too chewed up already!) for the hood of your quiver. Find the "fattest" field tip point that you can, heat it up with a candle or torch and melt holes where you want them in the foam. Melt the holes about an inch deep. The holes should be big enough to slip the Rage broadhead into without the blades opening up. I actually heated up an old Rage broadhead to melt the holes and this worked perfect! Good luck have confidence in your new Rage broadheads.
Thanks SB it worked....It sure is easier than sending them back.....I shot my first deer with this BH....I love it!
Thanks for all of the tips!! I have shot mechanicals for the last 8 years (Spitfire XP pros). I switched to fixed blades because of the shoot through screen on my blinds.....That was a mistake! I got rid of the shoot though screens!! I really don't have a problem with my Rage's opening in my quiver. I have a an Alpine quiver and I took the fixed blade foam out which left 1/4" of foam in the bottom (just enough to put the tips in and keep it in place.... That is a good one to know if I ever decide to change quvers!
Cool!!! Let me know..... How I figured it out was...when I get out of my tree I shoot the practise head at a leaf or something to keep my confidence up.....the other day I shot my "practice" arrow only to realize I shot a real broadhead...in the cleaning of the head I fiured out how the O ring works.... you learn from everything...LOL SB
