There have been some threads about the 500’s but they are a bit to much $$ for me. Anyone have some info on the ps1 or 2? Also looking for some of your actual pics from these models as the ones on their site looks a little to good to be true. Thanks
It is the smallest camera i have [ps 1] black flash it takes 4 battery's battery life is good even with just 4 batterys SD card micro they work but small you drop one hard to find set up is different than most cameras but not real hard day pictures are good night the flash is not real strong 15 to 20 ft. and you get what i call the flashlight look light in the center of the picture
I shared on youtube and here me unboxing my first PS model. I now have 2 of those, and 3 Gen500's total. https://forums.bowhunting.com/threads/new-radix-trail-cam-unboxing-set-up-initial-thoughts.88901/ I initially ran the PS model I got on picture + video a ton in the summer months and LOVED the quality of any daytime images or video. Nightime I never expect crystal clear imagery, especially from such a small cam like some folks IMO naively desire. You want crystal clear night image you need either a much bigger array of IRs or get a white flash cam. All that said, when on photo burst mode the things will last longer than I even can say on the same 4 high quality batteries (I use Procells by Duracell). The Gen500's typically $200 do go on sale a bunch and I nabbed two recently with a 5% off code which was emailed and applied to their already sale price of $149.99.....those things take AWESOME pictures so far for me. Night images stretch farther, but would of course with larger bank of IRs.
I've got one PS2 I believe. It's okay'ish, a lot of problems I'm not happy with or don't like so I won't buy another one. I hate the mini-sd, it has no loops for a python cable and the daylight pics are way too dark for my liking. Night pics are noticeably textured as well, they have like vertical stripes over the entire pic almost like a printer with a partially plugged jet. I've used worse and I wouldn't "not recommend" it but I wouldn't go out of my way to brag on mine.
IF getting lines something isn't right. Email them and see if there is a update you need to do. Day pictures are definitely more true to life especially mornings and evenings or overcast days. I like this as I despise how some cams wash out with light...but 100% get why this would be a turn off for some.
Most of my day pics are just too dark, not true to life dark. They look like the camera has a dark sunglasses type lens on it. The only pics that look decent are in bright midday sunlight and even then they are darker than real life naked eye.
I'd send some photo examples to their CS, I guarantee they will want to see them and will do what they can to correct if an issue.
I have 8 of the ps series and most of them have been running since May/June with no change of batteries....for the price and size I really like them. Also I personally like the mini sd but each to their own..
I'll have to set it back out and save some pics from it to do that. I have yet to get any pics I want to save from it so none on file at the moment. Honestly I doubt I'll bother, it's sitting in a box with other cameras good enough for backups that still work but I don't like for whatever reason and that's likely where it'll stay. I hate ****ering with CS and sending stuff back and forth, I generally just don't bother. Plenty of cheap cameras out on the market that I don't have to have special cards for and that have python cable loops on them.
Thanks for all the input! I was considering the ps1 d/t price but can’t find any for sale that aren’t marked up to the price of the ps2. Radix’s web site is out of them as well. I don’t mind some of the darker pics shown above, but there is a limit. Gotta see details for the price they cost. Also I didn’t realize they were only micro sd. That sucks. I don’t want to change everything for 1 cam. I currently own 3 cams. A browning ( that recently died ). I liked that cam. Colors were a little washed out but the detail for a 10 mp was pretty good. My other 2 are spypoint force 10. Pics don’t have the quality of the browning but the trigger speed is amazing. Both cost me $100 which was the same as the browning ( spypoint price has doubled now ). As you can see, I don’t have the funds to be running to many cams.
Anyone interested they are having a pretty slick and nice Christmas time sale... www.radixtrailcameras.com
Sorry I am a bit late to the party on this...I have 15 PS-2's and 1 PS-1. I love love love the picture quality, and the fact they run on 4 batteries. The micro sd is a slight inconvenience if you have multiple brands of cams to check...but with 16 of them now it doesn't bother me because I have 25+ micro sd cards. The night pics I would say are the one area I would like to see improved. If deer is still pics are great, but there is some motion blur if deer is moving. The 2018 models will have addressed this (so I am told).
I own a GEN 500 and so far unfortunately I’ve been disappointed. I have the camera setup on a field edge and I havnt really got any pictures worth posting. That being said, I want this thing to succeed so I’m going to move it over a bait pile with lithium batteries on video mode to see how it does. I want it for a 2nd angle kill as well. The verdict is out still. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
