Saw an interesting piece in the Sunday paper a couple weeks ago about radishes specifically designed for deer. I was pretty interested so I checked out the website. I have a n acre plot I worked up with the intention of planting turnips but I might give these a try...you can check out the website at trophyradishes.com. anyone checked these out??
I will be planting Big and Beasty Brassicas by Frigid Forage that includes Daikon Radishes so we will see
I just started reading about radishes lately. I really like the looks of the Trophy Radishes. I may have to give them a try in a new 1/2 acre plot this year.
Ive looked into them a little as well as Tall Tine Tubers with is a "deer specific turnip" more than likely I will stick with the generic versions and much cheaper versions from my local feed mill
Hey guys, just a heads up....rumor is on the qdma boards that Trophy Radishes are just the same as ground hog forage radishes with double the price tag. I'm sowing radishes into my corn this coming week actually, just throw it in among the corn, and it'll grow with no prep nesessary. They are great to aerate your soil and let nutrients leach back in. Deer eat em at all stages of growth, and they last well into winter for a late season food source. My plots will have standing corn until it's annihilated and then radishes for the remainder of season left.
