20 yards off rub line and decently looking traveled path. Wind in my face and cliff to my back. If this isn't a good spot I don't know what is. To bad it's 77 degrees. Better than work.
Well didn't make it up on time this morning. Had kind of a long week so was nice to sleep in. Might wait till tomorrow to head out since its supposed to cool down. One encouraging thing tho, last night went out and mowed grandparents lawn and when I was putting mower away noticed few deer in nerighbors field. Grabbed the binos out of truck and looked to be a decent buck and doe standing in field. Stood there few minutes then he began to chase her around. So idk may be picking up around here despite the warm weather.
wet day, saw nothing heading out tomorrow morning, decreasing temps and increasing barometer, hopefully I at least see something. Also, they updated the contest, we jumped up to 5th place!
The chasing and breeding will happen this time of year no matter what the temperatures are. Cold weather just helps make it happen during daylight.
Well i'm home after a disappointing weekend. One spot that my dad and I hunt there is a couple new hunters that showed up a few years ago. Well they lack common sense in my opinion. They decided to be lazy and drive their truck all the way down the logging road deep into the woods where we hunt. The deer sign at this place has been next to nothing and its obvious they got the deer all pushed out of there. Good thing I got my main spot to hunt these next 2 weeks. This warm weather doesnt help much either. I had 1 doe come in last night but I just couldnt get a shot. I had her under my stand for a bit but every spot she walked she was either behind some brush or too close. She was destined to live. Still fun to watch.
another day of nothing... Heading out again in the morning to a different area of the same piece. The wind will be 8-10 from the west which is perfect, I have a solid entry and exit that goes around the area and I feel like my luck is about to turn. I mean, hey, it can't get any worse, right?
It's the weather guys keep your head up , once that cold snap hits the rut will flip on like a light switch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've been hunting Se Mn public land since Sunday. Last night I had 5 does within range for 20 mins and thought for sure a buck would come check them but no luck. This morning a 6 point came through. I'm set up about a mile deep now and hoping for the best in the morning. Lots of rubs and scrapes back there.
Seeing some nice deer put on the boards, great job fellas. I hate to keep saying things are looking good for me, but things have been slow. I have had a chance at young bucks but I am trying to be picky. The good news, I am heading to Illinois this weekend to a friends family farm. From what he says, I should have no issue dropping at least a 140" buck. I'll be hunting my area here on Friday evening and Saturday morning, then heading up there to hunt all day Sunday. It's been so dang hot here, I am ready for a cold snap. Fingers crossed I'll have something nice to add this weekend.
BOOM!!! 9:15am this morning in public MN land. I have not scored him yet but I am guessing 110"? Time to get to work and start butchering! The weather was terrible, 1mph wind that was basically blowing all directions, but he came up out of his bed to go and look for does. High angle shot (I was 20ft up, he was climbing a ravine, but got a lung and heart. Ran 80 yards. Mostly excited to sleep in tomorrow
I leave tomorrow late morning/lunch time to head up to our cabin. I'll be hunting Thursday evening through Sunday morning. Good luck guys. Hoping I can get a decent 8 point or better on the board for us. What has the deer sightings been like the past couple days? Chasing? Buck movement?
Good luck, hope ya find it. I'm heading out here in little bit. Haven't been able to hunt much lately but gonna try and hit it all weekend. Then hopefully week from Monday I'm taking off work to hit it hard. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
