Well fellas made it out to the woods this morning. First deer of the year are out in the field, only they're about 500 yards away ha Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Passed up on a decent size spike. Last night. Had 6 does come out at about 80 yds. Never made it close enough. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Been at work for three days and it's supposed to rain tomorrow night so depending on the weather I may or may not be back out.
Well just got home from our cabin. Did a saturday night and sunday morning hunt. Saw 4 does saturday night but no shot. And Sunday morning I saw nothing. Not sure if i'll go this upcoming weekend because it is the youth gun hunt. I'll probably dig out a little blaze orange vest and go bowhunt anyways.
Well... after a nap. I was able to pull my self off the couch and go out for a evening bowhunt. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
I want to apologize for apparently not reading the scoring and/or rules thoroughly, but do we get points for does? I was thinking bucks only. If so, I harvested a doe about 2 weekends ago. Filmed it also. I will post as soon as I can. Sorry not been involved a lot , just been busy working and just put in new late minute winter plot. Hopefully will pay off.
vanfossen - Bowhunting.com Forums(2307467) on Vimeo So my wife and deer are mocking me for not being able to get out and hunt yet. lol she sent me this when I was at work. Does out eating my apple trees 40 yards from my porch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would post the video and hopefully it will count. Make sure to post in the scoring thread 3. All entries must be accompanied by a minimum of TWO (2) photos of the hunter with the deer and your archery equipment in the picture. If you can manage to take one picture, you can also manage to move 4 feet to the side and take another one. It's not that hard. There will be NO exceptions to this rule. Two photos with hunter, deer, and bow in photo or it won't count. If you submit a deer without two photos, it will not count. Consider this your warning. This goes for both does as well as bucks. 3a. If you harvest the deer on film and can provide footage of you shooting the animal along with post-recovery footage including hunting, animal, and bow, that will suffice in place of two photos. Footage must be posted online for everyone to see.
Hey sorry forgot to respond to this. So for everybody. The morning hunt ended without seeing anything else. Went back and and watched some football and headed back out for the afternoon. Was pretty uneventful but had a little fork horn come in and cruise right by without knowing I was there. Stopped about 15 yards from tree before heading out into bean field. Nothing else so about 20 mins before got dark I decided to climb down with it being first sit of the year I wanted to make sure had no problem getting everything packed up, usually do that first couple times. But of course as I hit the edge of the draw I was in there were 3 doe about 30 yards aways which would of maybe came into where stand was. Either way it was good to be back out in the woods. The highlight of the night was as I was driving home got up by the neighbors corn field and there had to be at least 20 deer out there feeding. Looked like a little bit of everything. As I went by they all took off but a couple and one looked like a decent buck. The field is maybe 1/4 from the farm so they're in the area and hopefully it's just a matter of time. I'm gonna be back out this weekend for sure but am gonna try a few afternoons this week, we should have some short days so it should work out if throw the stuff in truck. Okay, I think that 3a will qualify it since when I shot the deer it dropped where I shot it. I hit the bottom of its spine along with the left lung. If not then I will try to make good on another doe. I was planning on taking another one later on anyways if Lords will. Appreciate the info.
Either way, congratulations on getting one down. The contest is just for fun at the end of the day so not big deal. Sent from my SM-G900R4 using Tapatalk
Had a bunch in bow range this evening. Couple big does. A spotted fawn. Small spike. Small 6pt and a small 8pt. No shooters though l. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
