Like anyone else, I love to shoot big bucks. However, I've always felt that any game I take is a trophy. I'm glad additional doe tags are available so I can shoot a doe or two and still have a buck tag in case a dandy comes by.

I started out as a meat hunter years ago but then evolved into a trophy hunter. Now I realize meat hunting is better from a game management perspective so my goal is to fill all my tags. It's important to take out a certain number of mature does so as to limit overpopulation and promote a healthier herd.

Both. Up in Michigan I am primarily a meat hunter. Plenty of does to shoot and once in a while I'll take a buck if he's decent. When I hunt in Ohio we pretty much hunt for the big boys. If we decide to take any does off of the property, each year we make a determination if we need to, then I will become a meat hunter but still pass on any small bucks.

I'm a meat hunter. Can't wait to start tracking and patterning certain bucks and have an actual hit list. I don't have the land or means to really do all that at this point in time. Therefore I mainly just hunt for the meat and would be totally thrilled to have a trophy buck present a shot to me. But in the same sense I have yet to harvest any buck with my bow so if any buck presents a good shot I won't be passing it up. :)

Meat hunter first. Hate to buy meat at the store. Too expensive and too much "extra" stuff in those animals. I love to get a chance at a big buck, but it's not my main objective

Trophy. I can shoot a doe any day and they taste better anyways so I pass on any buck that I consider small or not matured. I'll shoot a doe late season if it comes down to that.

Bucks I have a personal 120" min. Does I kill at will, unless its between 10/15-12-1. Even then I may give one the shaft at last light.

Bottom line is I enjoy killing deer with my bow everyone gets me pumped :D

First and foremost, I strive to harvest a mature buck. However, I do like venison and will shoot a doe in late season if I have not filled my buck tags.

    Both.

I hope to shoot at least one deer per year as long as I'm hunting. I will definitely shoot a small buck just for the meat and for the experience of a successful hunt.

But I also like the trophy quest part of the equation. I'd take a big buck over a small one any day.

Meat hunter. I shoot everything and anything edible that comes into range. Size doesn't matter.

I hunt for meat first then trophy. I rather have venison all year so i like to stock up when i can. But I would mind taking a trophy buck ether getting that meat.

How long does your freezer stay full with a deer? Or how often do you have to hunt to make sure that you don't have to buy meat?

I don't look for racks until after I have meat in the freezer.

I love deer meat but if there is a 150+ at 20 yards and a big doe at 20 yards I wouldn't think twice I would shoot the buck so I guess that makes me a rack hunter.

If we need meat we will shoot doe's in order to keep the ratio a little better, but we limit our selfs to one buck a year. He must be over 140" and older than 3 and his meat isn't wasted.
