Awesome face paint. Reminds me of Gene Simmons. I juist got back in town from an extended weekend at the beach and now I'm ready to get in the woods. Lets see if I can't get something this weekend.
I'm checking in with no news to report. Corn is still standing and most activity is at night. Got some does moving early morning and evening, but always seem to be by a stand where I'm not. Going out again Thursday
Great job Frosty! Congrats.. Guys I'm working my butt off trying to get on these Georgia Deer. Putting on some miles in the early season just trying to get a feel of where I need to be. Seen dang few deer, like 7 all season, only 1 being a small basket 6 point.
a week ago we thought the deer where on fence rows and beans...not sure where they are now....i have been hunting corn
Hey guys, its been a couple of weeks since I posted or even hunted but I smakcked a button buck this evening and will put pictures up when I get the chance too. It's my first archery deer and I shot him out of the same stand that I shot my first deer ever!
hey congrats man.....that will help our team out keep us posted....Gun opens up tomorow but its doe only but heading out anyways hoping to put some food on the table...
Alright. To my knowledge we now have 2 deer to register on the board. Is that correct? Or are they registered already?
ya your right it takes him sometime to update the total score just give him some time and you will notice a points diferent for our team
i'm going out tommorow mainly for turkey, hopefully this bearded hen that we've been seeing around. Fall turkey just opened up a week ago and I wanna get one with my bow. If i see a deer I will probably fling an arrow.
On the board with another doe! Double lung this morning. Pics to follow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice Job Man! At least some people are seeing deer. I went tonight and I'm sure that the damn bird hunters and bear hunters up by me have the deer scared crazy, not to mention the youth hunt of 10 year olds. But I'm glad you got her! If it's a decent story I'd love to hear bout it! Otherwise Congrats!
nice job bud.........my buddy tonight took a doe and i also saw a lil 6pt it was chasing a lil doe around huh
Congrats to all who've scored so far. I have been out only twice, busy at work. Haven't seen much, still wayyyyy too much corn in the fields.
The story to come. Great morning hunt yesterday. And yes that is the remains of face paint after sweating it all off dragging her 400 yds, not a bad attempt at a goatee. I have 3 pics of her, do I need them all or is that just for bucks? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Here are the pictures I have. Unfortunately, I do not have one with my bow in the picture with me, I thought that was for bucks only. I did include a picture of my arrow and what it looked like before I shot it. Hopefully that will be enough. My buddy and I were set up in a location which we thought would be perfect for the SW wind that day. At first light, we had a doe come in to about 5 yds from his tree, which was a 12 yd chip shot broadside for me. Knowing it was still too dark and not feeling confident in the shot, I passed on her. We both watched her feed and wander around until about 7:15am or so. Then she went into a thicket, which we never saw her come out of. At this time, it was about 7:30, my buddy was still checking on her movements, when I turned the other way and saw a big 3.5 year old doe leading 2 smaller ones towards us. We had guessed the wind perfectly, as they never even stopped their normal movement. I was already standing, so as soon as her head dipped behind a tree, I grabbed my bow. At this point, my friend had just turned back in my direction, saw the deer and then saw me draw back. I waited another 10 seconds until she came around a tree, grazing and turned broadside at 25 yds. Instincts kicked in, I put the pin on her and fired. It was a great shot, loud "thwack!" and then bam she was gone like the wind. I knew it was a great shot, but couldn't find my arrow using my binos right away. We both saw the shot and were confident, however it was still early and we wanted a chance at another deer. 2 hours later, we get down and find the arrow, right past where she was standing. Here's where it gets interesting. We retrieved the arrow, placed it where we saw first blood and began tracking. After the shot, she had turned and ran back in the same direction she came from, doing a 75 yd semi-circle and back past my buddy's stand. We had great blood (bubbles and dark red) 3'-4' up on trees and on both sides of her path. She was hit good and the excitement was growing. Total distance covered while tracking was 400 yds, we couldn't believe she made it that far. The whole time we were tracking we're thinking she's gotta be around here somewhere. The blood trail was unbelievable. We finally found her 45 minutes later, 400 yds from my stand laying in a creek at the bottom of a ravine. The entry and exit wounds, along with the pile of lung jelly, I found while dressing her confirmed the shot. These are amazing creatures and have stamina like no other. Complete double lung pass-through on my second archery deer ever, I am still pumped. Glad I filled the freezer priorities so early, now I can sit through the upcoming rut and be patient.
