Bushnlo don't forget to post two pictures and submit all the provided data that they are requesting on the scorecard thread. I fly out for the Dominican in the morning.
We don’t have a choice with earn a buck but I don’t have anything coming in yet. One good thing is we shot these 2 Deer before a major rain storm so all the blood was gone in just a couple of hours after dark I also gutted the deer far from the Deer stands
Huge congrats Bush!!! To you and the daughter, making memories trumps EVERYTHING! I am still mixed on whether I will hunt September 15th urban opener here or not....may depend on what cams say...
No, our season doesn't open until this Saturday here in WMU (5D). I usually wait for the temps to get a bit cooler, and let the opening day kind of guys blow off some steam. During the week is best, the woods are literally vacant.
I won't be hunting our urban season start this weekend...way too warm. Gonna hang one more sit and brush in another and overseed already planted plots with more rye and oats as well as fertilizer.
Is this hurricane affecting any of you here? If so my prayers are with you. Guess what another fire here. I don't know how much we got left to burn.
Hope Mother Nature skips over everyone in the group! Kansas opener is Monday and I’m itching to sit. Still pretty warm but I’m gonna sit the morning on some standing corn and hopefully get us a few more points.
Back in the states fellas! Had an amazing time in the DR ! But now it's time to focus on hunting season!
Had a pretty productive day today. Got everything ready for the season to start Monday. I helical fletched my arrows a few days ago and and added nockturnals. Went to shoot today and realized I had to sight in again due to the weight of the nockturnals and maybe the position of the new fletching on the arrow shaft. Last year I kept my draw weight at 70 lbs all season and didn’t have to compensate for nocturnal nocks. Well I dropped the poundage recently to 65 and sighted everything in. Guess that 5 lbs made enough of a difference that the nockturnals were shooting low today. Got sighted out to 60 yards with the nockturnals and decided to shoot my fixed blades to see if I had to make any left or right changes while using a fixed blade. This is where my day got frustrating lol. I set my block at 40 yards shooting a 4” baby formula lid and had a few arrows that would consistently hit low or low right. Couldn’t figure it out for the life of me. I’m switching the broadheads around and going nuts. I realized that I was having some fletching contact with the problematic arrows. After getting the nocks in the right position I was back to good groups. Long story short lol, I got to shoot a lot today. And 3* of helical fletch is enough to drive me insane.
I went out sat morning in bucks county pa but it was so hot nothing was moving. I am going to try nj this afternoon the back to pa for some evening hunts . The next 4 days are a evening Deer movement moon phase so it’s time to get on it
SO....I NEED TO DOWN A DOE ASAP. These urban reduction zones meant I could have started Saturday hunting on my place or another spot we hunt, BUT had way too much to do so spent day hanging a final stand, putting a blind up, overseeding and fertilizing plots at my place....also grabbed sd cards for a final pull probably before a rain/storm in October to check. HOLY CRAP did the bucks stick around. Got a clean 11 (nearly a 6x6) that is just awesome, Cicero and an awesome younger 10 pointer that has BOONER potential. Also there is Bertier (the wounded one) and Skyrise which is a bonafide weird rack for sure! I know I really wanna close the three year story of Bertier but also Cicero or that 11 be awesome...however unless I wait till October 1st I gotta shoot an antlerless deer asap to earn that 2nd buck tag in the urban zones I could use before the 1st....here is to hoping a window of time opens an evening or two this week and I can slip out and nail a doe/antlerless. Will share pictures in a second...
Lily has only been hunting 3 times in her life . First time she goes out she shoots a tom, second time she shoots a doe and then the third time she almost killed a velvet 8pt! If we didn’t run out of light it would have been over! We had him at 30 yards for 15 minuets with plenty shooting light but there was limbs in the way .by the time we got a clear broad side shot she did not want to take it because the light was to low .
Cicero first....then the young 10 I hope just doesn't give a shot because dude has booner potential...then the nearly perfect 12 but is a 6x5 we believe...then Bertier...then Skyrise I don't have any pics on phone of. Tons of pictures of all these blokes all over just these few on phone.
