CWD in MN! http://news.dnr.state.mn.us/index.p...wd-positive-wild-deer-in-southeast-minnesota/ Damn....
At first I was like, "What the hell is QWD?" Sucks, but not surprising. Hopefully MN doesn't over react like WI and try slaughtering all the deer.
That's what I'm hoping for to. The deer density in my area is already low enough. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it SE Minnesota that implemented that law where a deer has to have 4 scoreable tines on one side to be considered legal?
Yes it is. It's also where they destroyed a huge elk herd a few years back that they found cwd in. This deer was taken 5 or so miles from there.
Yep, read about It yesterday at the milk plant. Won't surprise me If Mn don't go Wisconsin on the deer herd In SE Mn.
I know the hunter. He's pretty bummed that he'll be tossing out all the pepper sticks he just got back from the doe.
That is correct; I hunt in Houston/Winona county and a deer must have 4 scorable points on 1 side to be legal. Here are the changes implemented in 2010. Continuing the firearms deer season at nine days for the early (3A) and late (3B) hunts. Instituting an antler restrictions of four-points on one side for all hunters older than 17 during the archery, firearms and muzzleloader seasons. Prohibiting hunters from tagging an antlered buck for another hunter. Establishing a youth-only season from Thursday, Oct. 21, to Sunday, Oct. 24, during an extended break for most public school children during what is commonly referred to as MEA Weekend.
Overall this is definitely frustrating; I heard that NY had 1 or 2 wild deer with CWD a few years back but they couldn't find any others. Hopefully this is the case in MN!
