Well I kinda decided a while ago that on my 30th birthday I was gonna quit smoking. Smoked last cigarette out of a pack last night and seeing as my birthday is next Saturday I might as well start early. It won't be all that bad I guess since I also chew but for right now I'm gonna try to just quit smoking since out of the two I think will be the hardest.

    We'll see how it goes.

I quit cold turkey (after being sick for a couple weeks), I would recommend keeping a bic pen handy to chew on during those times you usually lit up, gum, candy, whatever. If you have the support of those around you, it makes it that much easier.

If you really want this, you can do it. Good luck!

I know a lot of people rather just quit smoking out right but, if you are finding troubles doing so, the electric cigarette is a awesome way to go. I have been cigarette free for 6 months and couldn't be happier thanks to e-cigs. I am down to zero nicotine and everything. Just a thought if you find yourself having a hard time quiting!

    Good Luck

CONGRATS!!!! you are doing the most responsible thing a smoker can do...QUIT!! I quit a little over 2 years ago to become a better hunter and to have money to go on a hunting trip every year. I quit cold turkey, and haven't looked back since!
my advice is to chew gum, hard candy, and most importantly...KEEP BUSY!! the first few weeks are gonna be hell, but you can do this!! pick up a new hobby, or do something totally new. start running....start going for fast paced walk, every time you have a killer craving, do 20-30 pushups...and take a deep breath, it helps. soon you will be able to take deeper breaths. smell the fresh air again, taste the REAL taste of food again. Congrats! you can do this!

Thanks fellas. Not really sure how its gonna be. Really only smoked sitting around the house and around certain people. So I can definitely agree with Swamp Stalker about staying busy.

Main reason wanting to do it is there's family history with health probablems on my dad's side. That and after getting back to work and and doin certain things this fall I'm tired of getting winded seems like easily even though didn't really smoke a lot anyway. But any is about too much. Hopefully in next year or so I'll gonna try to be tobacco free all together. Just figured itd be a big shock goin all at once and want this to be a success.

My dad passed away from cancer last year after smoking his entire life... I'm sure many people here have had family/friends that went through the same thing and it is a shame that it happens to so many people.

    Good luck!
