I chewed and dipped off and on for 15 years or so. It started with the Levi Garrett because everyone was chewing in college, then it turned to dip. I then quit dipped and began chewing again. Then yet once again I started dipping again 5 years ago, then it was chew...it never quit. I never had a "revelation" or anything that caused me to quit, I just did. I have not chewed tobacco since the spring of 2009, almost a year. I will not do it again. I love my children and wife. I lost both my grandparents on my mother's side at age 7 from smoking related causes. It will forever haunt my dreams finding my grandma dead at the age of 60 at my house. I know what caused it, yet I chewed tobacco without care or concern for years. I am not dying from something I can control, like tobacco products. My family needs me, and I do not want to die a gruesome death from mouth cancer. Sure I see the bags of peach chew and want some as I do fishing on a hot summer day, but it is not just me anymore. My kids look at everything I do and I will not let them down.

Michael I am right there with you. About a year for me as well. I started by buying cans of dip, then turned around and threw them out of my truck. I would get so pissed that I wasted all that money for nothing...then I just quit.

I chewed Kodiak and almost needed a second skin graft on my lower gum line. My cousin convinced me to swallow a whole can of Kodiak with a Miller Lite, haven't chewed since!

Whenever my Dad quit he replaced chewing with chewing sunflower seeds. It helps satisfy that oral fixation that you've developed in chewing. Every time you get a craving for a dip, throw some sunflower seeds in. He doesn't use sunflower seeds any more though, as he no longer gets cravings.

I chewed hardcore for 12 plus years, copenhagen was my favorite when I was in the corps, when I moved back to Maine the copenhagen i would buy would be so dry I had to switch to Kodiak. I got sick with bronchitis and couldn't dip for 7 days. When I got better I just continued to not dip. I have been dip free for 10 years now. Stick with it, you won't regret it.

June 20th will be 2 years...I no longer crave it and it is no longer apart of my life. Brett I too went through that exact phase. I am 31 and dip was apart of my life for 15 plus years. Good luck to you guys...I cannot explain how good it feels to loose that vice.

Good method. Exactly what I would recommend. Somehow make yourself sick over it. For me it was swallowing just like reacway. The urge will never fully go away, but it gets better with time.

I do not recommend switching to any non nicotine products and it still promotes the feeling of something there, which is half the habit.

Cold turkey is harsh, but the best methon in the long run imho.
