Im truley sorry about the passing of your wife. Good for you for quitting. I have lost two family members and two neighbors to smoking.I also had two coworkers lose there wives to smoking. I dont smoke but my wife does. She is turning 40 this month and says she dosent want to be a smoker when she is 40. One thing I have learned is there is nothing I can do as a husband to make her quit. I just pray she does. I live in fear every day of what will happen to her because of it. She tried chantix but like others mentioned it gave her the worst nightmares of her life and after a year of not taking it she still sometimes gets them. Congrats to the op for quitting. I hope you stick with it. I watched my step dad go through 20 years of cancer and heart surgurys because of smoking before he passed. It was very difficult to see. Its hard for a nonsmoker to understand why people smole knowing what we know today.
Thanks for asking and yes still going strong!! There have been a few times that my determination has been tested but sticking to it! I love how much my head has cleared up. I can breath again haha
I've actually been thinking about you the last couple of days. Glad to hear it's going well. Blessings........Pastorjim Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Congratulations, quitting smoking is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It's no small accomplishment
Congrats! I've been blessed with the ability to have a cigar now and then, but that's it. Can't imagine how hard this has been, kudos to you bud!
It gets easier from here on out. Now the habitual effects start to be realized. It can be funny at times, I sat down at the computer one time and started searching around. Had no clue what I was looking for and then realized it was my cigarettes. Happened for the first 5-6 months afterwards. It's amazing how much of ones smoking was attributed to the task at hand and not so much the addictive craving for one. The addiction is easy to surpass, the habit is the one that lingers the longest. Keep at it, you've got it whooped!
Totally agree its the habitual action of smoking that is connected with certain things that is the hardest now. Driving in my truck is the worst for me. I can ride in a truck no prob but to get in mine and drive is difficult. When I was still smoking it didn't matter if I just put one out, as soon as I got in my truck I lit one up. Its been a tough beast to beat down but I'm still winning!! Thanks again for the positive inspiration everyone.
Well I'm bringing this dead thread back up. Just wanted to let y'all know that, as I stated in the "Thread of admissions", I had picked the cigarettes back up early March. I said in that thread that I was planning on quitting again soon. Today is that day. I slapped a patch on this morning and am giving this another go.
Good luck man! You can kick it! Took me a few tries also but man once you are finally free of that monkey once and for all it is a damn good feeling. Keep at it!
I'm definitely taking your advice this time dude. I think the patch is the way to go for me to help break the motions and fixation of the act. Thanks guys!
