Thanks for the advice and I may end up switching to trying the patch if I feel the e-cig isn't working good for me. But I do realize that most of the habit is the routines of it all and I'm pretty headstrong and feel I can get through it.
A friend of mine started chantix and did ok for a bit but had to get off it because of the crazy dreams. She told me it was way freaky also said she had pretty depressing thoughts and stuff aswell.
Still going strong! I'm feeling tons better. My nasal passages and chest seem to be clearing up pretty good already for such a short time not smoking. I can only imagine how much more they'll clear up as soon as I start to jog again here in the next week or so.
I quit 14 months ago...again. I have quit for as long as 7 years and started up again when my wife died. I was going through at least a pack and a half a day. The stupid thing is, I'd light one and take 2 or 3 puffs and throw it away. Everyone was asking me why I even bothered since I never smoked them. Here in NY they're almost $10 a pack. That was at least $15 dollars a day. That's $450 a month. I suddenly have all this extra cash laying around. LOL
The one thing that made it easy for me was that I never smoked in a building... including my house. My wife quit 20 years before she died of small cell lung cancer. Yup, doesn't seem fair that she quit for 20 years and it still got her. Anyway, when she quit she said it's not going to be easy if you smoke around me I said I won't... and I never did. In the dead of winter if I wanted a smoke I made myself go outside in the cold. That'll shorten the smoke break. Every day gets easier. You'll still have an urge after months... but you can just cast that aside more easily every time. "I chose not to smoke"... and it's gone. Good luck, no cheating and when it's really hard.... just tell us it's really hard and we'll tell you you can do it. Your support group is set. Go get 'em.
Sorry for your loss davidmil. That's one thing I didn't do. I only smoked in my very first apartment about 15 years ago. I hated how nasty it made it inside. So when I moved out of there I never smoked in another apartment of mine. Thx for the advice and positive feedback.
I started smoking at 15, at 30 I had had enough. I put them down and never picked one up again, I'm almost 57 now. REMEMBER, if you take just 1 puff its like starting from scratch all over again. My wife still smokes and it reminds me everyday why I quit. Screw the $$$.$$, you'll ALWAYS find something to spend money on, you're a bowhunter for God's sake. It's breathing (breathing is a good thing) and better a life that's gonna be the real benefit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Totally agree. Ultimately doing it to feel better, be able to breath again, and not wake up everyday hacking up lung biscuits. But the money saved is definitely a super awesome bonus because I still spend to much on other stuff anyway. Haha.
Good luck to you brother. I am a respiratory therapist and believe me, without going into all the technical stuff and explaining anatomy, just take my word that you will be way better off in the long run, health and money wise. I've been in this field for over twenty years and have taken care of thousands of people with end stage lung disease caused by smoking. Believe me, I never had one of those people tell me they were glad they started smoking but had many many who told me they wished they NEVER started. Best of luck to you. Remy hope things are still going well with the quitting. I have not had a smoke since December 31st, I'm still doing it cold turkey!
